10 Thoughts On Velvet's Cheesy Fries

Downtown Milledgeville, Georgia is known for its local small business, shops, and restaurants. The Velvet Elvis Grille and Tap is one of the hotspots for food. Velvet has a menu full of delicious items. They have an array of choices ranging from steak to salads to the "Buffalo Bird." My favorite item on their menu, however, is no doubt their famous Cheesy Fries! Who knew a food item could be so good and make a person feel so many emotions? I decided to give a list of my ten most common thoughts when it comes to Cheesy Fries.

1. "Am I reading this right?"

The first time I read the Velvet menu I thought my eyes had deceived me when I saw the description for "Cheesy Fries". They were not your ordinary (sometimes poor excuse for) shredded cheese covered fries. I had never seen a combination such as this. They combined melted queso cheese, crinkle cut fries, AND fresh bacon in one delicious dish.

2. "Do I really want to spend over $8 for an order of fries?"

Eight dollars for an order of fries seemed a little steep at first. To my surprise, this thought only occurred to me one time. I immediately regretted the thought after my first bite.

3. "Is it time to order yet?"

Anticipation overtakes your mind as you cannot wait to place an order for your cheesy fries.

4. "Did you really just ask me if I thought it was healthy to eat just cheese covered fries as my meal?"

The rules about being healthy do not apply when it comes to cheesy fries.

5. "How much longer?"

After placing the order, one typically becomes impatient. Your stomach starts to growl and your taste buds long for the first bite.

6."Is there such thing as love at first bite?"

Seriously though.. I think I fell in love with these fries at first bite. The warm, creamy queso mixed with the savory bacon flavor all on top of crispy, golden crinkle fries... Definitely one of the best things I have ever eaten.

7. "Must. Eat. Them. All."

The portion size is rather large. No matter how full you get, or if you need to save room for your actual entree, you simply do not want to waste any bit of your cheesy fries. (P.S.Unlike most fries, cheesy fries are actually still good warmed up as leftovers!)

8. "Can I get a free refill on my fries?!"

When you take the last bite, your heart instantly breaks. If only you could get free refills on cheesy fries like you can drinks!

9. "What do you mean you have never had CHEESY FRIES?!"

*jaw drops* When someone tells me they have never had Velvet's cheesy fries, I am seriously amazed. Eating this deliciousness should definitely be an item on your bucket list.

10. "Is it Tuesday yet?"

The best thing (besides cheesy fries) that Velvet offers is their Tuesday special of 1/2 priced appetizers! Yes, that is right. On Tuesdays, you can get cheesy fries for just $4! (Every broke college kids dream!)

If you ever find yourself in Downtown Milledgeville, I would advise you to stop in at Velvet and try Cheesy Fries for yourself. I promise you will not regret it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
