For all Dungeons and Dragons players out there, you know that each campaign is completely different. You never know what to expect. However, there are some things that are consistent throughout.

1. Endless hours of watching ‘Critical Role’.

Yes, it's just a podcast of people (not just any people though- super cool voice actors) playing Dungeons and Dragons. Yes, it will take over your entire life. Every episode is approximately 3-5 hours long, and there are 150 of them including both campaigns- so atleast you won't be bored again for a very, very long time.

2. Too much time building characters (and way too much detail)

Not only do you have to figure out all the details of your characters race, class, and traits along with all of their statistics but also an entire backstory for them, which can be pages long if you want it to be.

3. Players adopting every child or animal-based NPC

Is it small? Is it cute? Is it not very intelligent? WE MUST PROTECT IT AT ALL COSTS.

4. "So how do you win?"

Talking about Dungeons and Dragons to friends who know nothing about Dungeons and Dragons is an interesting experience.

5. When you roll extremely low.

When you try to stab an extremely powerful dragon, but you roll a 1, so you end up stabbing yourself instead by accident.

6. When you roll extremely high

When you try to stab an extremely powerful dragon, and you roll a natural 20 with a bonus of 8, so you end up killing the dragon instantly.

7. "Do we get experience points for this?"

The players ask the dungeon master this after every single kill. Every. Single. One.

8. The clerics of the group having the least strength but the most power.

Our attacks may not be much, but who's the one in the party always called whenever somebody is injured? Us.

9. Looting every dead or unconscious character we see.

Our attacks may not be much, but who's the one in the party always called whenever somebody is injured? Us.

10. The DM having to put up with all our crap.

To all the Dungeon Masters out there, thank you for creating interesting complex characters and NPCs. Thanks for putting up with us trying to fight, steal from, or seduce everyone we see.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
