You know that thing that always makes you happy? I have ten of those. These things I'm about to list actually give me chills and give me that creepy look; you know the one, where you hunch over, rub your hands together and smile? Yeah that look. Here are ten things that give me that look.

1. Finding bloggers on Instagram.

Pictures! Beautiful pictures! The most encouraging reason I love Instagram is it has exposed me to women of color who are doing the same things I want to do: travel, write, blog, and pursue photography. They show me that people have done it, and I can do it.

2. Logging into Pinterest.

Okay, I'll be the first to admit it, I'm addicted to Pinterest. I am a dreamer and visual person, so I always have images in my head. Pinterest is an idea place with beautiful images of anything you can possibly imagine. You like building houses? Pinterest has pins with the best ways to build on. Do you like finding different toothbrush styles? Pinterest has pins for that too. My pins aren't exactly toothbrushes but it is a hub of everything I do like and organizes my crazy dream world.

3. Watching the Carmichael Show.

This is a new one for me. If you haven't heard of this show, it's basically Black-ish with no children. I LOVE this show. The main character Jerrod Carmichael (also his real name), is the creator. He's a dry-humored, chill, black man who is just trying to figure out life with his preppy, bi-racial, and socially-aware girlfriend while his parents continue to try and raise and guide him. This show is hilarious and very refreshing.

4. Opening fresh Dominos pizza.

Everyone can relate to this. Who doesn't get that chill when after 45 minutes, you finally open a hot box of pizza and see the steam rising from the cheese and the meat curled and crisp? And you know all of a sudden when the pizza arrives you move a little bit faster: speed walking to the kitchen to get plates, napkins, and cups, pouring you drink, then realizing since you've done all of that the rest of your family has lined up to get their slice and now you're at the back of the line trying to keep yourself composed while they tear into the pizza.

5. Getting under the covers.

There's something about curling up under a bunch of covers after a long day at school or work that just feels good. You are finally done with the day and there's nothing else you can do. Sometimes you even let out a squeal.

6. When someone compliments my nails.

I used to be a nail polish addict; I loved painting my nails. But in the past 3 years I find I don't have time to do them anymore. So when I finally get to do my nails and someone asks "where do you go to get your nails done?" Well, I just can't help but be a diva.

7. Starting the first song off an anticipated album.

This one is relative. But there have been times when I have waited a long time to get an album and I finally get to listen to it. I sit patiently and listen, my heart racing as that first note or beat drops.

8. Drinking a hot cup of tea.

I love tea! I pretty much drink any tea, just not fruit tea. It makes me warm and calm, and again I like curling up with it to watch a good show or movie.

9. When I finish my hair six hours later.

One would think I would be exhausted, but when you slayed your hair, there's a whole other feeling of accomplishment and pride!

10. Seeing my cat.

My cat Shadow is the most interesting cat I've known. Life is never just normal with him because he's so weird, but so entertaining. Plus, I love petting and playing with him. And yes, that is paint on his fur, he did it himself obviously.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
