Being a redhead is wonderful. You’re part of a group of people that make up only one percent of the world’s population. Being a redhead means you get to live life in the spotlight, much like a celebrity, except not really. Being a redhead means getting stopped multiple times a day by strangers. They have all sorts of questions about redheads and how they are different than other people. Here are a few of the common things redheads hear:

1. "Is your hair natural?"

Yes, it is! But isn’t that a rude thing to ask? If you walk up to a blonde and ask if her hair is naturally that color or if she dyed it that color she might get offended. And let’s be honest, it’s easy to tell a natural redhead from a dyed redhead. Just be courteous.

2. "Let me tell you about everyone I know who has red hair."

Honestly people, knowing a redhead is a special thing but other redheads don’t care about the color of your wife's ex husband's cousin’s hair.

3. "Can I touch your hair?"

It feels the same as your hair. Also, I don’t know you.

4. "Never dye your hair!"

Who do people think they are, telling people they don’t know that they can’t dye their hair? But it’s so beautiful! Yes, we know.

5. "Look, it’s your sister!"

Every time there is another redhead near, my friends feel the need to point and say “Hey, it’s your sister/brother!”

6. "My hair used to be that color."

Sometimes older people tell me that they used to have the same color hair as me. It makes me sad, I couldn’t imagine losing my red hair.

7. "You have the most beautiful hair I’ve ever seen."

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

8. "Put on sunscreen!"

I cannot stand when people tell me to put on sunscreen. I hate it even more the next day when I’m sunburned because I didn’t put on sunscreen.

9. "Is it true that you don’t have a soul?"

Is this a question or an insult? I haven't come up with a good come back to this one yet so feel free to share.

10. "I would die to have your color hair."

Really, you would die? I’m not even sure I would die for my own hair color.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
