Studying is not always easy. There are many distractions and feelings that can come out of nowhere during it that can make it extremely emotional and stressful. This especially happens when you study the night before the test. You never plan on waiting until the night before because you think you have all the time in the world to study for it until you realize that the test is on the next day. Here are some of the many stages that will occur while you are studying:
1. The Overconfident Stage
Before you even open your notes, you already feel like you will understand the material in about a half hour and that you'll do fine on your test. You can remember some things that they talked about in class so you feel like you already know half of what's on the test. Studying weeks and weeks of notes on the night before the test will work, right?
2. The Eating Stage
Soon you will find yourself wanting to eat out of boredom. Eating while you're studying can always help you to concentrate. Just make sure that you are not overdoing it and soon enough you eat a whole bag of goldfish. Then you will just sit there ashamed of yourself because that was your last bag of goldfish.
3. The Anger Stage
The notes are looking like they are from a different language and you can tell which days you were not paying attention because those notes are sloppy. None of this makes sense. What did that stand for again? Now you start to get pissed off and you feel like you are so done with studying for the test. What's the point of studying if you are already going to fail? The professor is trying to make your life difficult on purpose by giving way too much material for one test. Why did I wait until the night before to study? How is it 2 am already?
4. The Crying Stage
After getting yourself worked up and all pissed off, now the emotional and sensitive side of you is coming out. You can't believe how late it is and that you barely studied for this test. You're doomed and now you're never going to get your dream job. You're a failure at life.
5. The Phone Stage
You've been studying for quite a while so you are rewarding yourself with some time to look through Instagram, Snapchat and Facebook. Soon enough you get so invested in your phone that you look at the time and a full hour has passed out of nowhere.
6. The YouTube Stage
Now you decide to distract yourself. YouTube will always be there for that. Whether it is looking up the best performances of Britney Spears or for just watching cat videos, these videos will help you to relax and forget about your paper for a while. That is until even more time has passed when you should have been studying.
7. The Netflix Stage
You feel like you are going to fail anyway so you might as well just keep watching that Netflix show that you have been binge watching. You tell yourself that you will only watch one episode and that's it. When you hit the season finale of the show, that's when you realize that Netflix probably wasn't the best idea.
8. The Concentration Stage
Finally, you are able to actually study. The notes are making sense and you are able to remember what you read before. You feel like you can actually do well and pull off a good grade on this test now that you have actually been studying.
9. The Sleeping Stage
It's 3 am and you are exhausted. A small nap for about 20 minutes will wake you up even more and then you will concentrate on studying. After convincing yourself that this will work, you take your nap which ends up going right up to your alarm to wake up for class. You try to cram in as much as you can while you are getting ready and on your way to the test.
10. The Relief Stage
You just took the test and you thank God that it's over. You know that the test could go either way but at least it's finally done.
