Some days, we are in control. Some days, we succumb to the swirling chaos inside of us that pulls our minds and hearts in 1,000 different directions. We are poked and prodded by the fears, hopes, anxieties, dreams and burdens within until they have created a new sense of self within us, like a chemical reaction between substances that have taken on a new form. For those days when we lose ourselves, or even those days when we could use a change of pace, here are ten songs to bring refreshment, peace of mind, and perhaps even a challenge to open yourself to possibilities or thoughts not yet swirling around inside your head.

1. Surprise Yourself by Jack Garratt.

Take the song's advice: "Let go and surprise yourself."

2. Catch and Release by Matt Simons.

A great song to reflect on your day. This one never gets old.

3. Rise Up by Andra Day.

Need a confidence booster? Here's your solution.

4. Swim by Jack's Mannequin.

For all those days when we are drowning in our own heads.

5. Here Comes The Sun by The Beatles.

A classic reminder that the best is yet to come.

6. I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For by U2.

Most of us haven't, and that's more than ok.

7. Lucky by Kat Edmonson.

We could all do to count our blessings.

8. Follow the Sun by Xavier Rudd.

Sometimes it's best to surrender our plans and just follow the sun.

9. A Change is Gonna Come by Ben Sollee.

We won't have these worries forever.

10. Hello My Old Heart by The Oh Hellos.

Never lose sight of who you want to be, but don't forget to also remember who you have been.

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
