June- the first of the summer months! Even if you're taking summer classes (like I am) there's still plenty to enjoy. Celebrate each day and take advantage of the warm weather!

1. June's Origin

June is named after the Roman goddess Juno, the goddess of marriage and fertility. This is part of the reason June is such a popular month to get married, hence the phrase 'June bride.' June also derives from the Latin 'juniores,' meaning 'younger ones' - a name that contrasts with the Latin for May, referring to elders. Such summery weather is fitting for a celebration of youth.

2. Flag Day

Flag Day, or Flag Birthday, is a Patriotic holiday that falls on June 14th. While July 4th celebrates our country's independence, Flag Day is dedicated specifically to the Stars and Stripes. The very first Flag Day is believed to be celebrated in 1885 by a schoolteacher, who encouraged celebration among his students on behalf of the 108th anniversary of the adoption of the official flag design we know today. 3. Father's Day

June 16th is Father's Day, always the third Sunday of the month. Take some time to celebrate fathers and father figures alike and all they have done for you! Bring on the dad jokes!

4. Juneteenth Day

https://liberationschool.org/why-revolutionaries-commemorate-juneteenth/

June 19th, otherwise known as 'Juneteenth,' commemorates the abolishing of slavery in the U.S. In 1862, Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation, and on June 19th 1865, men and women were no longer allowed to be owned as property. Later, slavery was officially ended in all corners of the country in accordance with the 13th Amendment.

5. Summer Solstice

June 21st is the first official day of summer! This is the longest, sunniest day of the year. In the North Pole, the sun doesn't even set at all! So go outside and make the most of this beautiful midsummer ambiance.

6. Pearl and Alexandrite

June boasts two beautiful birthstones, said to be symbolic of those born during this month. Pearls are believed to symbolize wisdom gathered through experience and are thought to emphasize the integrity and and purity of the wearer.

Alexandrite is another of June's birthstones. This rare gem, recently discovered in the 19th century, is said to bring good luck and encourage harmony between the physical and spiritual realms.

7. Rose and Honeysuckle

Not only is June associated with two birthstones, but two flowers as well. The first of these is the classic rose. Aside from the obvious symbolism of love and romance, roses are also said to represent a vow of secrecy. The ancient Romans adorned meeting room ceilings and doors with roses to emphasize a commitment to confidentiality.

Very simply, honeysuckle is believed to represent happiness and affection. With its soft yellow color and sweet taste, it's not hard to see why.

8. Sparkling Spiked Peach Lemonade

Along with the gemstones and flowers, I feel each month should have a signature drink, too! I can think of nothing more seasonable than Sparkling Spiked Peach Lemonade - perfectly sweet and refreshing.

9. Swimming

The pools are open- time to swim and sunbathe! Or, if the beach is more your style, the water's warm there, too! But if you're pale like me, make sure to slather on the sunscreen... :)

10. Cookouts

Cookouts- the all-American pastime. When you've finished swimming, nothing tastes better than a hamburger or hot dog fresh of the grill!

I hope this gives you some simple things to look forward to this June!

P.S.: Shoutout to all the Geminis and Cancers!

an image of taylor swift standing center stage surrounded by her backup dancers in elegant peacock esque outfits with a backdrop of clouds and a box rising above the stage the image captures the vibrant aesthetics and energy of her performance during the lover era of her eras tour

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
