Being born in the summer has its ups and downs. There are things we look forward to every year and things that are not so great. Growing up, there are signs that are consistent for almost every summer baby! Here’s to you, born in the months of June through August.
1. When we were younger, we did not get our special birthday day during school.
All the other kids with birthdays in the school year got to bring in a special snack and had their name announced during the daily announcements. For us kids born in the summer, we just had our names read in a long list on the last day of school, saying that our birthdays were during the summer.
2. It’s hot as heck.
Usually. We spend our birthdays sweating.
3. On the flipside, we can spend our birthdays by the pool.
Hot days means you need a way to cool off. I have gone to many birthday pool parties with my summer baby friends.
4. Ice cream cake.
Since it’s summer, you have the perfect excuse to ask for an ice cream cake for your birthday. With so many flavors, how could you resist?
5. You can end your party with a bonfire.
If you live in the country and are a summer baby it’s great because you can make huge bonfires! I have seen people burn couches… it gets big. Even if you don’t live in the country, a small fire pit is all you need to roast marshmallows and make those summer s’mores!
6. You can lounge around outside.
What’s better than hanging outside with your friends? Pull up a chair or lay a beach towel down and get your tan on if the sun’s out.
7. There are ALWAYS bugs.
Summertime means the bugs are out of hiding. It also means your birthday party could be ruined by a swarm of bees or mosquitos. Just don’t forget the bug spray for your party guests!
8. The fair is during our birthday months.
Gather up all of your friends and head on down to your local fair! It’s always fun to spend the day there playing games and enjoying the rides.
9. Since school is out, more friends are able to celebrate with you.
If your birthday was during the school year, most people have extracurriculars, so it’s harder to get together. Usually, people have more free time in the summer, which means you can party longer!
10. The best music festivals and concerts happen during the summer.
Ask for concert tickets for your birthday presents and you’ll have the time of your life!
