1. You Know What You’re Doing, Even When You Don’t.

Just like Hermione, you’re a quick thinker. You can anticipate events and improvise when you need to. Your friends can always rely on you to resurrect a situation, and you’re often referred to for advice. While you may not lead a snotty professor into the Forbidden Forest in order to escape her grimy wrath on chance, you are resourceful in your own way and use your street smarts to get ahead.

2. You Feel the Need to Correct Others.

With so much knowledge racing through your mind, you just have to let it free. Trivial things such as grammar mistakes deeply bother you, and you find yourself constantly debating over being nice or right. You’re only trying to help, but you might come off as condescending or arrogant sometimes. But it’s not your fault they don’t know how to pronounce Wingardium Leviosa.

3. You Know When to Take Action.

Being such a perfectionist can gain a lot of enemies, and you have a very clear line for how far you’re willing to let other people go. You’ve all but submitted a patent for the technique you use to shut down your opponents, and you, like Hermione, know when to outsmart them, and when to just punch them in the face.

4. You Can’t Stand Being Average at Something.

You’ve been praised your whole life for being superior in everything that you do, but occasionally, you find something that you absolutely can’t master. You know your niche and don’t expect to defy expectations in your weak areas, but underperforming in your Divinations class may literally cause you to rage quit.

5. You Always Know What to Say.

A lot of friends turn to you in times of need because they know they can rely on you for a judgement-free, cathartic conversation. You have the unique ability to turn your friend’s sadness into motivation and have a way with words that leaves them feeling calm and revitalized.

6. You Read Three Books at a Time.

Wherever you go, your bag overflows with tales of lands far away. You keep your books around, no matter what genre, because you know they’re the best way to learn even more. You immerse yourself within the stories you read and find yourself looking up from your alternate world hours later, not regretting a second of it.

7. You Don’t Take Anything for Granted.

While you are revered for your talents now, you weren’t always gifted with them. You’ve never forgotten the way your life has changed for the better ever since the realization of your dreams. You’ve discovered your own distinct kind of magic and don’t plan on ever letting it go.

8. You Dare to Be Different.

Whether you have always been this way or have learned over time, you are unapologetically you. Regardless of what anyone thinks, you know that you are something stellar. You’ll continue to create your own path and pave the way for others to follow in the future.

9. You Sometimes Intimidate People.

Your unique combination of the four houses may result in people fearing your power; it makes others uncomfortable that you know that you have the ability to change the world. Like Hermione, you keep your head down and work through any doubts, allowing you to eventually achieve all that you desire.

10. You Know That Intelligence Is Nothing Without Bravery.

You know that even if you’re the smartest person in the world, it’s useless unless you put your gifts to use. Your Gryffindor side is your outlet and protection for your ideas and you are sure to make positive change within your community and, by extension, the entire globe. Using your talent to make the world a better place is the most fulfilling and satisfying kind of magic to ever exist.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
