Growing up, I watched every Disney movie on repeat. Something about those films made me keep coming back for more. They were able to capture my attention and make me feel heartfelt emotion for a fictional, animated character.

The brilliant mind of Walt Disney and his franchise has not only changed how cartoons are viewed, from stop-motion to full motion pictures, but he inspired millions to follow their dreams.

1. You learn valuable life lessons.

Disney movies teach us how to treat each other with respect and kindness, how to be brave and stand up for what we believe in, and they teach us that it’s okay to be different and ultimately ourselves.

2. These films bring people together.

These movies are all-inclusive regardless of your age, culture, gender, race, or background.

3. They show how important family and friends are.

Every main character in a Disney movie has their friends or family to guide them as they mature and face different challenges throughout their life. Without a support system, our heroes would not prevail!

4. The movies show the vast imagination and grueling work Disney puts into their franchise.

The credits at the end of each Disney movie take anywhere from two to five minutes to list every person who impacted the shape of your favorite Disney movie and helped make it possible. Hundreds of people devoted their time, money, ideas, creativity, and skills to create the masterpieces we know today.

5. The songs are always catchy.

It takes years to produce a single film from an idea to reality. Another huge aspect of Disney movies are the energetic, theatrical soundtracks. Even if you aren’t a fan of Broadway music, these songs will compel you to want to sing along.

6. The characters are relatable.

We can relate to most of the characters because they often resemble our personality and how we might act in social situations. The characters vary from introverted to extroverted, popular to unpopular, and pretty much anything in between. If we can’t relate to the characters directly, we can imagine what life would be like if we were in their shoes.

7. Disney’s amusement parks will be more enjoyable.

If you see your favorite character in the Magic Kingdom, you’ll feel like you’re catching up with an old friend. You might also have a better connection with the cast members and those working the amusement park because you’ll understand the joy Disney movies have brought to people everywhere.

8. There is always a happy ending.

Yes, there may be some conflict and drastic consequences throughout the movie, but in the end, the heroes always prevail!

9. They make you believe in true love.

We all want our favorite love interest characters to possibly confess their feelings to their crush, share a kiss, have a family, or live “happily ever after.”

10. You’ll remember these movies for years.

These films are timeless classics that have touched the lives of so many and will continue to do so for the next generation!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
