Whether you are an avid concert goer or not, concerts are something that everyone should experience at least a few times in their life. Here are 10 reasons why concerts are a life-changing experience.

1. The atmosphere.

The energy in the room at a concert is indescribable. Thousands of people have filled these seats, all for the same reason: to share and enjoy their love for music.

2. The anticipation.

There is nothing quite like the feeling you get just minutes before a show is about to begin. It's a rush of adrenaline. A rush of excitement. And everything else on your mind just fades away.

3. Meeting other people who share your music taste.

It's nice to meet other people who love the same artists/bands as you do and often, you can create some really great friendships with people you meet at a concert.

4. Seeing your favorite artist/band live for the first time.

Everyone gets super pumped to see their favorite performers live in concert for the first time. The feeling of actually being in the same room as them and hearing their voices in person will change your whole perspective on the beauty of music.

5. The memories you create.

Hanging out with friends is great and those memories last a lifetime as well, but the memories you create when you see your favorite performers live in concert is pretty unbeatable. Singing your favorite songs at the top of your lungs while dancing like there's no tomorrow among thousands of other people doing the same thing- it's incredible.

6. Discovering new music.

Let's face it- most of the time people aren't going to a concert to see the opening act. I'll admit, I have gone to concerts on several occasions and was just as excited for the openers as the main acts, but that usually is not the case for most people. However, nothing is more exciting than when you go to a concert and fall in love with the opening act. Now when you go home you have even more amazing music to listen to.

7. The effects on your health.

When you're at a concert, all your worries and fears fade away. The atmosphere of a concert can make you feel like you're on cloud nine. Those endorphins you release when you're at a concert can put you in the best mood of your life- until you get home and it's all finally over of course.

8. Getting to dress up for the night.

Some artists have very specific attire that their fan bases wear to their concerts. If you've ever been to Taylor Swift concert, you know exactly what I'm talking about. It's fun to get dressed up for the night and show your favorite artists just how well you know them.

9. Experiencing your favorite songs live and in person.

CD's and Spotify are great inventions, but nothing beats hearing music live and in person. And, if your music taste is anything like mine, then your favorite performers sound 10x better in concert than you could ever imagine on a recording.

10. Sometimes you even get to meet the acts.

If you're really lucky, you'll get to meet the openers or even the headlining acts after the show. Some people have the money for meet and greets, but if you're like me and like to hang out after the shows waiting for your favorite performers to leave the stadium, you just might meet people you never thought you'd get to see.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
