Owning a dog is one of the most miraculous things you could ever do. Having something there that loves you unconditionally just makes you feel good about yourself! They are amazing animals, but they are also a lot of work. Being the owner of a 1 year old boxer, I can attest to the ups and downs of puppy parenthood. So, if you're on the fence of adopting a puppy, hopefully this list can help. Please consider a shelter before a breeder.
1. They love to cuddle
Dogs love to be loved. Whether you’re petting them, or simply just laying there. As long as your dog has human contact, they will be happy.
2. They love to play
Puppies are just like babies, they're entertained easily and they love to be talked to. They love to play because that’s simply part of who they are
3. They're adorable
Having a bad day? Once you get home there will be an adorable ball of fluff waiting to greet you at the door. How mad could you possibly be when you're cuddling with a ball of fluff?
4.They keep you company in the car.
You’ll never have to go anywhere by yourself because your dog is always willing to ride shotgun.
5.They keep you busy.
There’s always a walk to take, a game of fetch to play, or a trick to be learned. You will never be bored with these animals.
6. They teach responsibility.
Feedings, potty training, taking them for a walk; everything that requires a schedule and effort teaches you responsibility. For the most part, the animals rely on you,so it's important to always be there.
7. They protect you.
Sometimes their loud obnoxious barking can be annoying, but it serves as a warning anytime someone is at the door. Ultimately they'd die to protect you so be thankful for that loud obnoxious barking.
8.They help keep you fit.
Those daily walks and games of fetch can really help you stay in shape. Dogs love to be outside, so the more you go outside with them, the happier you'll be.
9. They love you unconditionally.
Whether you're rich or poor, fat or skinny, if you love your dog, they will love you right back. A dog may only be part of your life, but for them you are their entire life. You are the center of their world, and for that, all their love goes directly to you.
10. They become part of the family.
A few cons include...
1. Chewing
They chew absolutely everything: shoes, clothes, bras, toothbrush, pads. If it's on the ground, it will be in their mouths.
2. Potty training
This step is a pain in the ass. Their bladders are so small that frequent trips are a must. If you wait too long to go, you will definitely find yourself stepping in puddles around the house.
3. They take up 95% of the bed.
4. Finding a dog sitter
You can’t be as spontaneous when you're a pet owner. Any time you want to go on vacation you need to make sure you have a pet sitter!
