10 Reasons Mindy Lahiri is an Inspiration to Us All

If you do not watch The Mindy Project, you should start watching it as soon as possible. Mindy Kaling is the star and creator of the show, which chronicles the fabulous, awkward and hilarious life of ob/gyn, Mindy Lahiri, her love interest and co-worker, Danny Castellano, and the rest of their quirky co-workers. If you are already a fan of The Mindy Project, you know that Mindy Lahiri is an inspiration to college girls everywhere -- she is smart, confident, and fun. Basically, Mindy Lahiri has it all, and we should all strive to be a little more like her. Here are ten reasons why.

1. She is smart.

All the pre-meds reading this can definitely attest to how much work and school it takes to become a doctor.

2. She tells it like it is.

She is not afraid to admit it when her life is a mess, and we've all been there (thanks, midterms and finals).

3. She has amazing taste in clothes.

Her clothes are always stylish and put together, even when she is just going to work to change into scrubs and deliver babies all day.

4. She is confident.

We should all try to be more like Mindy, in this respect. She knows she is awesome, and she does not have a problem letting everyone else know.

5. She does not care what people think of her.

Unlike most people, Mindy does not care what anyone thinks about her or her, sometimes, unusual habits. So, take a note from Mindy and get extra guac on your chipotle. As another one of my favorite pop culture female role models would say, "Haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate."

6. She has an amazing career.

She has worked extremely hard to get where she is in her career and continues to take the world by storm, even when she finds out (spoiler alert) that she is having a baby.

7. She is not afraid to be assertive.

Being assertive can be hard, but sometimes, it can be necessary to get what you want and make sure people don't walk all over you. Clearly, Mindy has no problem with it.

8. She gives great advice.

We all need a friend -- or need to be a friend -- who will be brutally honest with us, like Mindy.

9. She is hilarious.

Who does not appreciate a good sense of humor?

10. She is always 100 percent true to herself.

So, if you are feeling down about midterms, or eating a whole pint of Ben & Jerry's in one night, take a lesson from Mindy and remind yourself that you are awesome no matter what. Keep working hard, dressing cute, and being brutally honest and, eventually, everything will work out. You will have your dream job, the perfect boyfriend (minus his crazy mother) and your own thriving medical practice.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
