Although I was born and raised in suburban, Central New Jersey I knew for most of my life that that wasn’t my scene and I couldn’t wait to move out and move into the city. After almost 19 years of living in the suburbs I was finally able to move out and explore a new territory, the wonderful city of Philadelphia. Although I miss New Jersey a lot I have really grown to love Philadelphia and I can’t imagine myself anywhere else.

10. The People

Growing up in suburban New Jersey most people were very similar and fit a typical mold. One of my favorite things about Philly is that this simply doesn’t happen here. There are millions of people living here so it's impossible to say that someone fits the “Philly mold” because that mold flat out doesn’t exist.

9. The History

If you’re from the Philadelphia area and you haven’t taken a trip down to Old City you should take some time and go! Old City as absolutely beautiful. There’s the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, and so much more. It’s absolutely beautiful.

8. The Location

Philadelphia has an absolutely amazing location, especially if you like to travel. Being in Philadelphia you’re not too far from the beach, the suburbs, or the farmland of Pennsylvania. Just about anything you want to do around here can be done with a simple day trip.

7. The Variety of Neighborhoods

If you’ve ever been to Philadelphia you know that there are so many different neighborhoods and one neighborhood simply isn’t like the other. From North Philadelphia to Center City all the way down to South Philadelphia the city is always changing and no neighborhood is the same.

6. The Parks

Another amazing thing about the city of Philadelphia is the parks, I know that sounds crazy because Philly is a big city, one doesn’t expect there to be as many parks as there are, not to mention how diverse the parks are. From Fairmont Park to Spruce Street Harbor Park it's always a fun time taking a trip to the parks in Philadelphia.

5. The Artwork

No matter where you go in Philadelphia you see some amazing artwork, from the murals and street art, to the art inside the Art Museum Philadelphia is full of some beautiful artwork.

4. The Scenery

Everywhere you look in this city there's some amazing scenery and always something interesting to look it. From the skyline to the grass in Fairmount Park it's just beautiful.

3. The Night Life

Although I’m not 21 quite yet, I’m well aware of how awesome the nightlife here is. There's always something to do and somewhere to go.

2. The Diversity

One of my favorite things about this city is the variety of people you find here. There's people of all different races, ethnicities, and cultures. It's amazing to wake up everyday and see such a wide variety of people all walking around this beautiful place.

1. The Food

The number one best thing about Philly is definitely the food, not just the amazing cheesesteaks, water ice, and pretzels but all cute little hole in the wall spots you find and little food trucks around there area with their amazingly delicious food. It's just so good I can’t even put it into words.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
