The holidays are a wonderful time of year, filled with chaos, the sound of savings accounts emptying, and the occasional sobbing session. These things simply skip hand in hand with the literal joys of the season. However, the most stressful part of this time of year is without a doubt the infamous gift exchange.

We all experience the panic-stricken thought process of: "What does Brian want his year? What should I give to Aunt Susie? Grandpa Max will smother me in my sleep with a dirty pillow case if I give him another pair of Rudolph underwear". You want every gift to be perfect BUT original (and maybe slightly weird), because who wants to be boring, right? Where's the fun in that?

Here are some gift ideas that will be sure to make quite the impact this holiday season:

1. Vladamir Putin Scratching Post

Yes. It is exactly what it looks like. A scratching post made to look like a Russian dictator.

2. Potty Putter

We all know that one person who is ALWAYS in the bathroom. Give them a game to play while sitting on their porcelain throne. How incredibly thoughtful of you.

3. Portable Breathalyzer

Nothing says "I saw this and thought of you" quite like a portable breathalyzer. Holiday day drinking now made easy! Prepare the Mad Elf Ale, Grandma!

4. Personalized Face Lollipop

Now your favorite person can suck on a life-size lollipop of their own face! What a genius idea! Nothing like sucking on my own forehead to get me into the holiday festivities!

5. Six-Pack Beer Belt

It's a college kid's dream in fashionable camouflage colors, a beer fanny pack! A great way to pick up the ladies, or gents.

6. Chainmail Shoes

Who needs Jordans when you could get these bad boys fresh from the local blacksmith?

7. Face Candles

A gift of a melting human face without the legal complications!

8. Doll Head Plant Markers

Nothing like baby doll heads to make them say "Awe, I love it! This is just what I asked for!"

9. Rhino/Zebra Hoof Boots

For a small investment of $625.70, you could make someones whole year with this staple wardrobe piece.

10. Condom Corsage

Great for any formal event! Be the life of a party AND a lifesaver if someone forgets protection!

Pick and choose your favorite, you can't possibly go wrong.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
