Once upon a time, Hillary Duff was the queen of pop. She illuminated our Friday morning screens as Lizzie McGuire and our Saturday afternoon playlists with wonderful pop music. At some point in the early 2000s her music faded away and was soon shadowed by not so genuine teen pop stars that although brought out new hits, never had the same genuineness as she did. The true and honest songs were left behind and money-making tunes replaced the industry.
However, I met a girl this week that had just broken up with her long term boyfriend. She was devastated, and was using music as a way of healing. Guess what she was listening to? Yup, you're right, Hillary Duff. When I asked why she chose that particular artist she said the following, "In this particular situation, no fake TSwift song is going to heal me. I want to go back to myself and appreciate me more, and Hillary is the only artist that I feel knows how to do that." This got me thinking, and I asked around some more. Turns out, more girls than you think turn to the good old Hillary songs to mend a broken heart. So these quotes are for you:
1. "If its over letting go now, come tomorrow it will seem so yesterday."
2. "Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game."
3. "Soulmate is an over-used term, but a true soul connection is very rare, and very real."
4. "Knowing someone is wrong for you doesnt change the way you feel."
5. "So maybe the perfect man isn't real, but the perfect you is."
6. "And I will be strong, even if it all goes wrong."
7. "So I wont give up, no I wont breakdown. Sooner than it seems life turns around and I will be strong."
8. "The truth is that everyone has issues."
9. "Sooner than it seems, life turns around."
10. "In dreams and love there are no impossibilities."
All in all, keep your head up high and your perception of yourself even higher. You are awesome, and a relationship (or in this case, the lack of one) doesnt define you. Hillary says it, I say it and I can bet your friends say it too. Get back out there girl!
