If only we were able to perform magical spells like Harry Potter and his friends in the Harry Potter series. Life would be so much easier! You would never have to freeze waiting for the shuttle in the morning, or walk all the way back to your room when you forget something. There are countless thing that would be simplified if we were lucky enough to use the spells that are used throughout the series. If you're still waiting on your Hogwarts letter like me, then you've definitely thought about which Harry Potter spells would be useful in your everyday life. Here's 10 spells that you would definitely use in real life situations if they existed.

1. Obliviate

This is the spell used to erase people's memory. You know you would definitely use this one to erase someone's memory when you trip up the steps walking to class or when you walk past the guy you regret hooking up with last weekend. We all have things we wish other people could just forget about us, and this spell would be a game changer. Poof--and the memory's gone!

2. Expecto Patronum

We all have days when nothing seems to go right and it seems like there's a dark cloud lingering over us. In the series, these feelings are caused by dark, gloomy figures called Dementors. If this spell existed in real life, we'd be able to instantly cheer up on our bad days and pick ourselves up out of dark times. But remember, when the Dementors get you down it's perfectly okay to eat chocolate! The Hogwarts nurse recommends this to anyone who has been affected by the creatures.

3. Accio

The summoning spell would be perfect for those times when you're perfectly cuddled up mid-Netflix binge session, your computer is on 2%, and the charger is all the way across the room instead of having to pause the show, unwrap yourself out of your blanket cocoon and plug in the charger. This spell would be useful at times like this, but would likely lead to some of us never leaving our beds ever again.

4. Avada Kedavra

Don't call the cops on me for putting the killing curse on this list just yet. Think about the world we would live in if you never had to squish another spider in your entire life. You would never again find yourself standing on a chair with a paper towel in your hand, desperately praying that the spider doesn't fall directly onto your head. That is a world that I would not mind living in.

5. Engorgio

We all could probably think of a few things that we would like to make bigger. Your butt feels flat today? Engorgio! You accidentally shrunk your favorite shirt in the wash? Engorgio! Your friend gives you the smaller half of the cookie you're splitting? Engorgio! I think you get the point.

6. Impervius

This spell makes you repel any outside forces, including water. It would be perfect for those days when you head out the door without checking the weather only to find that it's raining. And you would never have to worry about carrying a wet umbrella around ever again! There's no spell that can change the weather (at least not that we're aware of), but I guess this is the next best thing in the magical realm!

7. Muffliato

This spell fills the ears of those around you with a faint buzzing sound. This is useful if you are trying to have a somewhat private conversation in a crowded area. Now you can talk about the cute boy that's sitting near you in the dining hall without the fear of him overhearing! Life changing!

8. Reducio

The opposite of engorgio, this spell shrinks things down! How great would it be to cast this spell on the days you feel bloated! Or when you're hair is really frizzy. On the bright side, we probably wouldn't need this spell if we just learned to like all the things about us that are too "big." Learning to love yourself is magic on it's own.

9. Reparo

This one is for all you walking around with cracked iPhone screens. I feel your pain! If this spell existed we wouldn't be trying to read our texts through shards of glass! You would never have to have that mini heart attack between the time that you drop your phone face down and pick it up and check the screen if you knew that you could instantly repair it!

10. Silencio

We all know how frustrating it is when you're trying to work on an assignment in the supposedly quiet section of the library, but people refuse to be quiet! This spell would solve that problem and help you focus on actually doing your work. If only!

Unfortunately, we live in the world of Muggles, so these spells aren't any use to us, but hey, a girl can dream! Although these spells aren't real, the magic that J.K. Rowling created in her series lives on every time you pick up one of the books and join Harry, Ron, and Hermione on their adventures.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
