My 10 Favorite Things about Thanksgiving Break

In my opinion, Thanksgiving has to be one of the greatest holidays known to man. There is so much goodness and things to be thankful for. Here are my top 10 favorite things about Thanksgiving break:

1. Obviously...FOOD

As a college student living off dining hall food, I rarely get a good quality meal. To be able to come home to a hot, fresh, home cooked meal is probably one of the greatest blessings to a college student.

2. Family

My college is not the closest to home, therefore, coming home is a rare occasion. Being able to come home and spend time with my loved ones is so special.

3. No Class!

I am so grateful for any time that I do not have to wake up at 8 am and sit through a 2-hour class.

4. Spending time with my boyfriend

Long distance dating is hard, so these breaks that I actually get to see my man in person and spend quality time with him are so precious.

5. I get to see my dog

There is just something special about having a dog. They understand you and always make you feel better. Coming home and being greeted by your dog is one of the most heart-warming experiences.

6. The comfort of my own bed

Let's be honest here...dorm room beds are not the comfiest.

7. Going to my favorite places in my hometown

One of my favorite things to do, when I come home, is to visit the places that I used to hang out growing up. It brings back good memories and I love creating new ones.

8. Seeing "old" friends

It is so hard being away from the people you grew up with and spent pretty much every day of your adolescence with, thus, I love catching up and seeing what my girls back home are up to.

9. Going to my home church

There is nothing like my home church. It's a place I feel safe, loved, known, and cared for.

10. Relaxing

Not being obligated to do anything is probably the greatest feeling ever.

Thanksgiving break, or any time I get to spend back at home, is the thing I am most grateful for. Being surrounded the people, places, and things that I grew up with bring so much joy to my heart and being home is always a great time filled with new memories.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
