If you’re like me you are quietly sobbing over the fact that it’s true: Gossip Girl turns ten this year. An article filtered onto my Facebook about how the show is 10 years old this year and people are pushing for an updated season (PLEASE!). I was super shocked to see that it was turning 10..TEN!!! I feel old.
I remember first finding the show about three years ago on Netflix. I’d hear about it but never actually watched it, until one night I couldn’t sleep, I was bored, and my parents had just purchased Netflix streaming.
As I started watching, I was hooked. I binged it that summer, sleeping maybe an hour or two at night. I told everyone and their mother about the show, it was amazing. Everything you could want in a show from the drama to a lavish lifestyle, to scandals. I’d developed a love for Blair Waldorf, of course. She was my favorite character. I wanted to be her in the worst way. Her unapologetic attitude, her confidence, her non-existent fear to tell the world how she felt. This show was my everything about 3-4 years ago.
Now we enter the 10th anniversary and it’s still just as memorable as it was back then. Here are 15 quotes that still have relevance today.
1. “I have an idea for you: quit. Your boss is a bitch. Let’s go to lunch.”
I don’t know about you, but I think this literally every time I walk into my job. I'm not kidding.
2. “I’m not a stop along the way, I’m a destination."
F yeah I am. Don’t play me.
3. “Damn that mother Chucker!”
This one makes it here for obvious reasons because it’s iconic. Just like Blair and Chuck.
4. “Have a little faith and if that doesn’t work, have a lot of mimosas.”
I know we all feel Blair on this one.
5. “Do you have any idea the psychological torture that I have endured being nice to you?”
Me when I have to talk to someone I don’t like and I’m forced to be nice. This one goes at to a lot of people, but if you’re reading this, I know you know who are.
6. “We should send out change-of-address cards because I’m moving to cloud nine.”
If your boyfriend doesn’t make you understand this quote, get a new boyfriend.
7. “What do you mean you don't know the price of the Prada clutch? You are Prada.”
A cute line to tell your best friend that they’re the best.
8. “You'd better not be selfish. A woman remembers.”
Yes, we do. Take notes boys.
9. “I'm really happy for you. I'm going to go vomit now.”
For the friends who are too PDA...but you're still happy for them. Swear.
10. “Feelings never do make sense. They get you all confused. Then they drive you around for hours before they drop you right back where you started.”
This describes my life. I know this quote is super relevant to everyone, especially us college kids.
What? Like you thought Blair Waldorf wasn’t relevant anymore? You’ve got a lot to learn and a lot of episodes to catch up on in that case.
