Fortnite, a free video game that’s objective is to be the last one alive out of 100 people, has recently become an obsession for teenage boys. While the game is admittedly fun, the obsession boys have with it is getting out of control. In a college dorm, if you walk onto a boys floor and hear screaming and gunshots, there’s a good chance there’s a room full of boys who have been playing Fortnite for hours.

1. Do your homework

There's a huge chance that during a 4-hour Fortnite break, your homework has not been done yet. Put down the controller and do your work, a degree means more than a "Victory Royale."

2. Do work in advance

If you are playing Fortnite in college, you probably have something due next week that you haven't started. Get ahead and do your work, and maybe you could have more time to fo the other suggestions on this list.

3. Read

College students rarely have time to leisurely read due to the workload that is given, however, the amount I've witnessed boys play Fortnite, they could finish at least 3 good books at the time.

4. Go for a walk

There's a lot going on at a college campus at any given time. if you're put down the controller and go for a walk around campus, you could make a new friend or learn something new!

5. Join a sports team

College's have many intramural sports that anyone can join. It could help you stay/ get in shape and you could make many new friends. If there are no intramural sports you like, try making a team through the school.

6. Play a sports game outside

Even though it's freezing in the North East at the moment, once it gets warmer I hope to see boys outside playing football or frisbee with their friends. Being locked inside all day once it gets warm just to play Fortnite is not the best idea. You could also invite new people to play with you, and make new friends.

7. Work out

Although I'm personally not the type of person to go to the gym, working out is always an option when you're bored or procrastinating. Instead of making your thumbs sore from the controller, try to make your whole body sore. Watch yourself get into shape with all the extra time you have, rather than playing video games.

8. Join the club

On my college campus, I know there are several clubs that make a big difference in the community. If more boys spent more time in these clubs rather than playing video games, they would be able to help their school a lot.

9. Learn a new language

Seems like a lot to do, but there are phone apps that make it really easy. It could really improve your life and could be a cool party trick. Also, being able to communicate with more people is super cool.

10. Go to class

This might just be a direct comment to my friends who play Fortnite so much that they miss important classes, but if you've missed class in the last few weeks to play Fortnite... go to class!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
