10 Small Goals You Can Set For Yourself Each Month That Are Actually Attainable

A new year. 12 whole months, 52 weeks, 365 days, and a slew of resolutions. A new year brings new found motivation to everyone and unfortunately, we tend to get carried away with the resolutions we set. Halfway through the year, we've either gotten overwhelmed or "forgotten" all of those resolutions. So think small and simple. These little goals each month require the bare minimum effort and can help improve your life or possibly be ways to further your resolutions throughout the year.

1. Make To Do Lists

Make a to-do list before you go to bed at night to clear your mind to get a good nights rest, or jot down a to-do list them in the morning to start your day off on the right foot. Try to center your priorities and write down the things that are the most important and you want to get done. Lists can help you focus and optimize productivity and isn't that something we all strive for in a new year?

2. Write Down 1 Thing Everyday that You're Grateful For

This can be in your phone, on paper, on a word doc, your Instagram story really whatever you, please. Writing down one thing that your grateful for every day helps you start, spend, or end your day with something you value, and more than likely makes you happy. Life can be hard, and having a list that you can look back on when you're not having the best day can help you power through.

3. Drink 8 Ounces of Water When You Wake Up Everyday

Keep a water bottle by your bed to remind you to drink those 8 ounces first thing in the morning. Drinking water in the morning can help wake up the body and kick start your metabolism. Hydration is so important and helps us maintain good health and who doesn't want that?

4. Take Yourself on a Date

That's right, take yourself on a date! Get a nice breakfast, sit at a park and read, go on a hike, treat yourself to a shopping spree. Set aside 1 day a month to spoil yourself. You deserve it. Fill yourself with self-love.

5. Create a Sleep Schedule

This may be a more difficult goal on this list because life is unpredictable, but doing your best to go to sleep and wake up around the same time every day can do wonders for your health. Feeling well rested and taking on a new day is an invaluable feeling.

6. Develop a Morning and Night Routine

Create your morning and nightly rituals. Whether that means showering, journaling, catching up on a tv show, reading a book, etc. Make time for yourself a leave an hour before bed, and an hour when you wake up to take things slow and do what makes you feel good and do it every day. Consistency from good habits only makes a better life.

7. Make Your Bed

Start your day by making your bed! It keeps you from getting back into it and instantly makes your room look cleaner. Also, it helps you start your day knowing that you've already accomplished something, and feeling productive from the start of the day only solicits more productivity.

8. Don't Hate Your Sundays

You may dread Sundays because they're the start to a sometimes daunting 7 days of work, tests, or school. Use Sundays to plan out your week, do laundry, finish homework assignments, self-care, treat yourself to a nice breakfast, clean your room, whatever you need to do to start of your week fresh and stress-free. So don't hate on Sunday's utilize them!

9. Make Someones Day

Tell your friends and family that you love them and be their hype man. Be that person that goes out of their way to compliment a stranger you like their outfit. This help transform your mind to see the beauty in the little things. Spread love and positivity wherever you go, chances are by making someone else day, you're also making your own.

10. Have a Positive Attitude

Before Taylor Swift's transition from a country/pop sweetheart to a crazed vengeful victim, I was a huge fan of hers. I've been listening to her music for as long as I can remember.

Over the years, as an observant T Swift fan, I've noticed her penchant for mentioning ages in her songs. Maybe she does this so she can look back on these songs and remember how old she was when she had these experiences. Or maybe she does it so her fans have another level to relate to her on. For at least my past seven birthdays, I've checked to see if Taylor Swift mentioned my new age in one of her songs.

Signs in Connecticut

As someone studying in Massachusetts, it would be as easy for me to expound on CT-MA relations and stereotypes as it is to talk about the essence of either place. I’ve traveled across the United States from the southernmost point to the Canadian border, from LA to Seattle, and from the East Coast Atlantic to San Francisco to the Pacific Islands. The further away I find myself, the less and less people think about my tiny home state. While Massachusetts residents tend to have a unique familiarity (and likely a few stories and some stereotypes) with Connecticut, the most I heard from anyone in Hawaii is, “Oh, that’s north. So cold! You get the full four seasons there.”

Sports are not easy to play. While they are fun to play, they have their challenges in each sport. But it is well known that some positions are harder to play than others. Not to take away the difficulty of the other positions, but some positions takes more than brawn to be able to compete at that level. It takes intelligence, cleverness, toughness and some improvisation. Note that this list is purely opinionated and is open to debate.
