The Internet has been buzzing with all new things such as new perspectives and new good habits. Some of it has been around, we just haven’t thought of yet. This list of new “life hacks” in Norman will help make life easier for spring semester .
Save energy. Put your phone on airplane mode to charge it twice as fast. Perfect for a busy college schedule when you are by an outlet for five minutes before you head out.
Study smart. Skip Starbucks and small elitist coffee shops and head to IHOP. You get free refills on your coffee, even through your latest study hours. If you really want the small coffee shop atmosphere, head over to Second Wind on Campus Corner and learn about their non-profit business.
Save dishes. Unfold your Chinese takeout box to make it a paper plate. Voila! Your meal is ready. Perfect for feeling fancy in your dorm room when you don’t have plates.
Wake up. Never, ever, ever sleep through your alarm. If you put your phone in a glass or cup, the sound will amplify and be sure to get you out of bed so you won’t miss your 8 a.m. again. If you still can’t get up, set it across the room so you actually have to get out of bed to turn it off.
Save money. Explore new grocery options. Believe it or not, Target isn’t the only store that sells food, so check out Natural Grocers for cheap produce, Wal-Mart for cheap snacks and The Earth for local foods. There is no reason not to eat healthy on a college budget.
Get an A. Make important text white, with a black outline, on that important presentation. It can be read on any color, so go ahead and make that background neon.
Avoid stress. Balance your time and use campus resources. There are counselors and advisors on campus that will help you with anything from choosing a major to personal life challenges. Email degree@ou.edu for questions about Degree Navigator, which can help you think about your major. Call 405-325-2911 to make a counseling appointment at Goddard.
Be happy. Do things that make you happy this semester, whether it’s calling your parents, going out for ice cream, hanging out with your friends or making time to work out.
Enjoy the new semester!
