10 Things I Wish I Did This Summer

While this summer was very enjoyable, I wish I was a bit more productive and visited other places instead of cooping up inside my room.

Apart from studying for the SAT, I have done absolutely nothing productive. While I had some fun, I wish I did something different and out of the ordinary this summer, like going abroad.

1. Complete all my summer assignments in the first month of vacation

I waited too long to finish my summer assignments for junior year and now I'm paying the price of crumbling under the work. It's safe to say this won't happen next summer for sure.

2. Go to Hawaii

I wanted to visit Hawaii for a very long time but at least my other dream of going to Universal came true. There's always next year.

3. Go out of the country

Ever since I've become interested in Greek and Roman mythology, I have the desire to go to Greece and Rome. Visiting all the legendary sites in those countries would be a dream come true.

4. Spending more time with my parents

While I spent a decent amount of time with my parents this summer, I still wish I had more time with them. With them going off to work nearly every day and me being preoccupied with SAT prep, I didn't have as much time as I would've liked with them. I know once I got to college, I will have little to no time to spend with them.

5. Go to the beach

Every year, we went to at least one beach but we didn't this year. While I don't like going into the water, I still wish I could've soaked up the sun and relax a bit.

6. Work out

I promised myself I would work out at the beginning of the summer but I became so incredibly lazy that I ignored that very critical promise to myself. And now that school starts in a week, I regret my decision to not work out so much.

7. Spending more time with my friends

I should've met up with my friends more often than I did because I'm fairly certain we would all be incredibly busy and have no time next year.

8. Sleeping for a shorter period of time

I took advantage of the rareness that was sleep and slept for hours at end. I wish I didn't because it would definitely be a fight to wake me up for school in the morning.

9. Read more books

I haven't done anything productive this summer, except prepping from the SAT, and I wish I at least finished a book series. At least it would've been some form of entertainment, apart from TV, and more inspiring.

10. Decide on a college major

To some it might be too early to decide on a major but, to me, it would've allowed me to browse through the classes in my school and see which one would be the best to take. Unfortunately, I'm at loss at what I want to do.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
