What My Lokai Bracelet Really Means To Me

I’m sure most of you have seen the clear, rubbery bracelet that everyone seems to be wearing nowadays. If not, it looks like this...

This is the Lokai bracelet, and it holds a great deal of meaning for many people that wear it; however, it has become a fad, but it's way more than just a fashion statement.

When you're going on the roller coaster of life the bracelet helps you find balance within yourself so that you don’t let positive or negative events affect you too intensely.

The black bead has mud from the Dead Sea inside it--showcasing the lowest point on Earth. This is to remind you that sometimes when you’ve hit a low, you should stay hopeful. The white bead contains water from Mount Everest--the highest point on Earth. Reminding you that sometimes you’re on top of the world, so stay humble. The clear beads represent that you just have to keep going, the way Dory explains to Marlin (Nemo's dad) "just keep swimming" when they go looking for Nemo.

I never realized how much an article of clothing could actually help me stay centered and balanced when things in life start becoming too stressful, and when things were going only straight up on this roller coaster for me.

It’s a resemblance of hope, and an example that you can’t become arrogant once everything in your life is going the way that you want it to be.

If everyone could find that one thing to get them through their roughest moments, and allow them to remember that you are to stay humble with your good findings because karma is always around, I think that there would be a lot more happy people in the world.

Life is a mixture of a roller coaster and a circle combined. You're going to go up with the good times, and down with the bad times, but you know that during those bad times that roller coaster will circle right back around to the good times. And during those good times don't allow room for regrets.

No, I am not saying youneed to go buy this Lokai bracelet to find your balance in life. I am just stating that this Lokai bracelet has brought a lot of comfort to me and my life situations.

It allows me to realize no, I am currently not located at the lowest point in the Earth buried in the mud of the Dead Sea; I am still above that no matter how terrible I am feeling at that moment. The bracelet also allows me to think, OK I am at this amazing point in my life, but I'm still not at the tallest peak of Mount Everest, I can either stop now and gloat in my own glory or keep going and see how much farther I can make it.

It helps support me on my journey, wherever I may go.

I love my Lokai bracelet, and I am extremely thankful for the creator of the bracelet, Steve Izen, that came up with the whole idea. It's truly pure genius.

If you do have a Lokai bracelet, don't ever forget what the tag says that was attached to the bracelet when you bought it.

"Water from Mount Everest: sometimes you're on top of the world. Stay humble. Mud from the Dead Sea: sometimes you've hit a low. Stay hopeful."

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
