We must eliminate every hindrance that will prevent us from having a successful 2017!

We must eliminate every hindrance that will prevent us from having a successful 2017!

In a meeting during my house of peace, I taught on how we must be set free from negativity, and believe that God will do incredible things next year!

"And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken." —Luke 21:25-26

In this meeting during my house of peace, I emphasized perplexities, and how many of us ended the year with a lot of uncertainties. In other words, we don't know why certain events had to occur throughout our lives. However, the truth remains intact, that we must trust in God that 2017 will be the best year for our life! It will bless your life!

If You've Ever Been Called Overly-Emotional Or Too Sensitive, This Is For You

Despite what they have told you, it's a gift.

Emotional: a word used often nowadays to insult someone for their sensitivity towards a multitude of things.

If you cry happy tears, you're emotional. If you express (even if it's in a healthy way) that something is bothering you, you're sensitive. If your hormones are in a funk and you just happen to be sad one day, you're emotional AND sensitive.

Let me tell you something that goes against everything people have probably ever told you. Being emotional and being sensitive are very, very good things. It's a gift. Your ability to empathize, sympathize, and sensitize yourself to your own situation and to others' situations is a true gift that many people don't possess, therefore many people do not understand.

Never let someone's negativity toward this gift of yours get you down. We are all guilty of bashing something that is unfamiliar to us: something that is different. But take pride in knowing God granted this special gift to you because He believes you will use it to make a difference someday, somehow.

This gift of yours was meant to be utilized. It would not be a part of you if you were not meant to use it. Because of this gift, you will change someone's life someday. You might be the only person that takes a little extra time to listen to someone's struggle when the rest of the world turns their backs.

In a world where a six-figure income is a significant determinant in the career someone pursues, you might be one of the few who decides to donate your time for no income at all. You might be the first friend someone thinks to call when they get good news, simply because they know you will be happy for them. You might be an incredible mother who takes too much time to nurture and raise beautiful children who will one day change the world.

To feel everything with every single part of your being is a truly wonderful thing. You love harder. You smile bigger. You feel more. What a beautiful thing! Could you imagine being the opposite of these things? Insensitive and emotionless?? Both are unhealthy, both aren't nearly as satisfying, and neither will get you anywhere worth going in life.

Imagine how much richer your life is because you love other's so hard. It might mean more heartache, but the reward is always worth the risk. Imagine how much richer your life is because you are overly appreciative of the beauty a simple sunset brings. Imagine how much richer your life is because you can be moved to tears by the lessons of someone else's story.

Embrace every part of who you are and be just that 100%. There will be people who criticize you for the size of your heart. Feel sorry for them. There are people who are dishonest. There are people who are manipulative. There are people who are downright malicious. And the one thing people say to put you down is "you feel too much." Hmm...

Sounds like more of a compliment to me. Just sayin'.

Fill Your Finals Week With God Like Perspectives And You'll Be More Than Fine.

The real game changer was when I opened my Bible and saw that God had a positive perspective for all the negative perspectives that I had and that I spoke over and into my life, I realized this might change more than my GPA, this might change my life.

The word "perspective," what does it mean to you? Just now, when you read that word what came to mind? Okay, if you are one of those people and are like "Uh, I don't even know" I give you permission to pause here and go read it again.

Okay, now what did you think of? Did you think of the typical "perspective on life" thing? Maybe, with it being finals season, your mind automatically went to "I wonder what perspective my professor is going to see my C(79) from? Maybe he will see it from a lenient perspective and raise it that extra point?"

The past few weeks I have self-disciplined myself to start putting things into perspective. I woke up one morning. It was a Monday. The Monday that started "dead week" at my University. Which meant, finals are next week and all the sudden I hated life. I made awkward eye contact with myself as I was brushing my teeth, half asleep. At that moment, I felt miserable. I was miserable because I didn't want to wake up that day. I didn't want to go to class. I didn't want to spend four hours at Starbucks studying for a final that I didn't want to take. I didn't want to go to work. You see, I just didn't want to do any of my responsibilities that day. As I rinsed my mouth out and threw my hair in a messy bun, why? Well, because I didn't want to do my hair. I took another good look in the mirror. I criticized the bags under my eyes from the five hours of sleep I had gotten. I then noticed this day had been the 7th consecutive day in a row that I didn't want to do anything and it wasn't just the stress of finals making me hate life. This had been the date that marked exactly a week that I had a very negative perspective on my day before it even started. You might be like me and not even realize it but, you've been living this life just routinely going through the motions and it's creating YOU, which is even worse than other people, to pour negativity into your days.

I took about an hour one night, after my day was over, to sit at my desk and write down negative phrases that I caught myself saying that day. The real game changer was when I opened my Bible and saw that God had a positive perspective for all the negative phrases that I spoke over and into my life, I realized this might change more than my GPA, this might change my life. Better yet, how I look at life.

1.) Me: "I can't figure it out."

God: "I will direct the steps you take"

Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don't try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God's voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he's the one who will keep you on track. Don't assume that you know it all. Run to God! - Proverbs 3:5-6 (MSG)

2.) Me: "I am too tired"

God: "I will give you rest."

"Are you tired? Worn out? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest."

- Matthew 11:28 (MSG)

3.) Me: "This is impossible"

God: "all things are possible."

"No chance at all," Jesus said, "if you think you can pull it off by yourself. Every chance in the world if you trust God to do it."

-Luke 18:27 (MSG)

4.) Me:"It's not worth it."

God: "It will be worth it."

"Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God's Spirit is right alongside helping us along. He knows us far better than we know ourselves. That's why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good."

- Romans 8:26-28 (MSG)

5.) Me: "I can't do it."

God: "You can do all things"

"Whatever I have, wherever I am, I can make it through anything in the One who makes me who I am."

- Philippians 4:13 (MSG)

This eleven letter word, "perspective" holds so much weight. It holds the weight of how your day is going to go. It holds the weight of your happiness. It holds the weight of some of your relationships and friendships. It holds the weight of your self-esteem and self-confidence. And, with it being finals, going into your exam with an expectation to fail and a perspective of being a failure will not get you the grade. You may not know a thing on the test but just having a better, more positive perspective going in will at least help you guess. But, as your study and prepare for finals. As you begin to think "I am too tired," or "I can't do it." just remember the God perspective and you'll walk out with not only a good grade, but a new level of confidence in yourself.
