Lou Reed is one of my top ten favorite musicians of all time, especially because of the work he did with his band The Velvet Underground in the '60s. I always loved that out of all the happy Californian hippy-type bands that came out during the mid to late 60s, that the one big band from New York had this darkness in its entire vibe and energy. Their style was a dark one but a lot of the times combined with happy instrumentals and tunes. This song came out during Lou Reed's solo career and I think it captures the entire New York City vibe, especially what it was like back in the day.
