The world is full of health and fitness grounded inspiration. From Team Hoyt to webpages dedicated to the success stories of those who have accomplished the seemingly impossible concerning physical well-being, we are inundated with grandiose, couch-to-marathon themed tales. Now this may come as a grand shock, but not everyone can make such drastic life changes at the flip of a switch. Some of us need to start small (for example, by running a 5K). This is for all of us crazy folks out there who are taking baby steps to slowly, but surely, make our bodies mirror images of the Greek gods and goddesses.
1. After months of hibernation, you emerge from the haze of Cheetos dust with a revolutionary idea: What if I ran a 5K?
2. You immediately reject said revolutionary idea. It would be impractical and would require you to change out of your pajamas.
3. It's too late, though, and the idea has already germinated in your subconscious. You begin to believe that this 5k might actually be possible.
4. First things first. To conquer this monumental task, you'll need a new wardrobe of fancy-pants athletic wear.
5. Your confidence level is up - time to go for that first run!
6. You now realize that you have made a dire mistake.
7. But you've already committed - new clothes and all—so you steel yourself and keep going.
8. You check your distance, thinking there's no way you've gone less than two miles, to find out that you've barely gone one.
9. But you push through, finally making it to the end of your run.
