Top 5 Products for Winter

The winter is the worst time for your hair, skin, nails, lips, and body, as the harsh winds cause them to severely dry out and crack. While bundling up and making sure to drink a lot of water in order to stay hydrated is vital, there are tons of skincare and beauty products that can help prevent chapped lips, cracked cuticles, and dried out split ends. Being sure to slather these on before bed, or before heading outside into the freezing cold, is a foolproof way to make sure that you stay as moisturized, hydrated, and glowy as you were in July and August. You can find products at any price range or beauty store, but these are my top recommendations for the winter cold.

1. Ultra Repair Cream - First Aid Beauty

This rich head-to-toe cream markets itself as a "skin protectant," as it moisturizes so deeply that it prevents the elements from getting to your skin. It is known for its simple texture and smell, free of fragrance and chemicals, that helps reduce inflammation from eczema, dermatitis, and other skin-worsening conditions. It manages to not create grease on your face, but deeply moisturize other parts of the body.

2. Eight Hour Cream- Elizabeth Arden

Eight Hour Cream has been around since 1930 and has been curing skin problems since. This cream is more like a salve, as it's thick and gooey, similar to a liquid Vaseline. It's perfect for sunburned skin (if you're lucky enough to be sunburned in December), cracked lips and cuticles, dry elbows, and more.

3. Norwegian Formula Hand Cream- Neutrogena

This thick cream is not for those who want grease-free hands from the second they slather it on. Neutrogena's hand cream IS greasy and thick, but it moisturizes like no other. It stays on for hours and protects your hands and nails from the harsh winds.

4. Reve Di Miel Lip Balm- Nuxe

Reve Di Miel is a honey lip balm that comes in a little pot. I recommend putting it on before bed to protect your lips from dry indoor heat while you sleep. When you make up the next morning, you'll be happy to find that your lips are still moisturized and plump. It's thick texture, subtle honey smell, and deeply moisturizing formula is unbeatable.

5. Total Repair 5 Damage Erasing Balm- Lorea'l

This yellow balm coats your hair in a thick layer of moisture that smooths frizz, repairs split ends, and adds insane shine. It's around $6-7 at any drugstore, yet, it stacks up in comparison to salon-priced products. It's a great product to leave on for an hour or two before hopping in the shower and being left with moisturized and healthy locks.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
