Our new website went live in June. During such a "makeover," you are - even more than usual - extremely busy with SEO. Because you want to change a lot, but you also want to keep your positions in Google. And even after the launch of that brand-new brand new site, you will stay on top of everything. I use all kinds of tools for that.
In this article a look in the kitchen (or rather: the cutlery drawer) of a do-it-yourself SEO professional.
SEO tools
use some of these SEO tools almost daily, others I used temporarily during the migration to our new website. You will also find (where applicable) the links to the relevant tools and some information about the use and any costs.
Yoast WordPress SEO
Although more needs to be done nowadays than on-page optimization, it remains a fundamental basis. The Yoast WordPress SEO plugin helps you to efficiently enter and control all those basics (search term density, search terms in URLs and title, image optimization, meta tags, etc.). We use the plugin ourselves, but we also install it as standard on every WordPress website that we build for customers. As per the CEO of JP SEO Expert - Jagdish Prajapat, Yoast SEO can easily manage the sitemaps. When you enable XML sitemap functionality, Yoast SEO automatically generates a sitemap, updates it as you add new content, and pings search engines when it's updated.
Google Analytics statistics
Of course, we measure visitor and activity on our website with Google Analytics, pretty much the standard when it comes to website statistics. It is free, so there is no better price/performance ratio ;-) I do think that Google Analytics has become increasingly complicated over the years and that is why I also use another set of statistics (see later in this article).
Google Webmaster Tools
You should use Google Webmaster Tools to register your (XML) sitemap with Google. But this tool also offers a lot of other useful information, and you can pass on certain information to Google yourself. If big "weird" things happen on your website, you will see that very quickly in Google Webmaster Tools.
Mozbar
Search engine optimization, by definition, means competing. Mozbar is a plugin for Firefox or Chrome with which you can get a global idea, from Google searches, why your competitors are doing better than you. You mainly see a lot of information about the incoming links, an essential factor for Google. You don't get to see everything, because for that you have to upgrade to the complete and paid SEO analysis tool from Moz (pricey: $ 99 per month). But you can also draw many conclusions from the free information.
Google Spreadsheet
A spreadsheet is, of course, not an SEO tool, but I do use it to keep track of all SEO-focused actions that I perform or still want to perform on our website.
That would also be possible in a standard spreadsheet, but I can easily access a Google Spreadsheet from any computer. Also, the spreadsheet in Google is saved almost every second, and that is not unimportant with all the information I have in it.
The sheet consists of several sheets with promotions ("done" and "todo"), new ideas for SEO, backlink opportunities and more. Because I can make exports from many of the tools as mentioned above, I can also quickly gather information such as Google placements and keyword volumes in the spreadsheet.
It is a bit difficult, but it is an indispensable aid if you are intensively involved with SEO and want to keep an overview.
If you have a site and looking for SEO, then I suggest you get in touch with me. I am Jagdish Prajapat and well known SEO Expert from India..
