The Importance Of Taking A Break

Trust me, I know how important your career is to you. You want to give your all to it so you can get everything you need from it.

Every once in a while, we all take a shorter lunch break, stay late to finish a project, and complete tasks at home just to finish whatever it is that we need done.

Having a strong work ethic is very important, however, you need to know when you need a break. Here’s a few reasons why:

1. You will burn-out

If you continuously work without a break, you will over work yourself. You’ll feel stressed out, tired, and not able to complete your tasks. Especially if you have a lot going on in your personal life (kids, house, friendships, relationships). Trying to balance it all without taking any time for yourself will lead to you not being able to help anyone.

2. Focusing on yourself helps you focus on your career

Taking a break, whether it be an hour or a week vacation, helps your clear your mind and de-stress. We can’t be on constant career mode all the time. Our brains need some time to refresh. I’ve noticed that a lot of my great ideas about work come from when I’m not there stressing out about what ideas I need to come up with.

3. You need to do something for yourself

At the end of the day, the best reason to take a break is because you deserve it! You’ve been working hard and need a reward. Take a day t yourself to just relax at home doing what you like to do. Travel to somewhere you’ve always wanted to go. Women especially take on so much. Careers, family, plus helping everyone else. Do something for yourself. Trust me, you will thank you later.

Hopefully, this helps. I most likely made this post because I’m excited about my own upcoming breaks next week and in August. Summer is a great time to not be stressed with work, so don’t miss the opportunity to take some time to yourself!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
