The weather finally gets colder.
Although it is still 90 degrees at the moment, October never fails to (eventually) bring us flannel and sweater weather that are perfectly fitting to the falling of the leaves. The nice cool weather isn't cold enough to warrant a puffy jacket just yet, but the morning commute and walk between classes is slightly less miserable with a breeze on your face.

Most universities will give students a couple days off in October. This much needed break is crucial for recharging because midterms round two and finals are just around the corner. Although it is quite short, fall break is the perfect opportunity to either catch up on sleep or reunite with friends.
3. Spooky season.

If you're a fan of Halloween, October is probably your favorite month. The holiday is celebrated all month, with decorations popping up on October 1st. Cobwebs, spiders, skulls, skeletons, and more are all absolute staples for dorm decorations throughout the month of October. The spooky decorations aren't the only thing that characterizes this season. Pumpkin scented candles, little fake pumpkins, and real pumpkins for carving are a perfect transition to the holiday right around the corner, Thanksgiving.
4. Fall fun Activities
Pumpkin picking, corn mazes, haunted houses, campfires. October is the month where you'll never have a boring weekend. There is always something "Fall" related going on every weekend in most communities, providing you with the perfect opportunity to do basic fall things. The best part is, you can post all these pictures on Instagram and brag about the fun fall things you're doing without too much backlash. (Just maybe not every weekend).

Even though it's not Thanksgiving quite yet, it's still socially acceptable to enjoy some pumpkin pie or your favorite casserole in October. And since food is arguably one of the best parts of any season, October brings its fair share of delicacies to the table.
Whether you have some time off this month to bask in all the fall festivities that October brings, or your stuck at work or school for the entire month, sometimes it helps to appreciate the little things that come with the changing of the seasons. A little break from the routine is refreshing, and can be just the little shred of positivity we need to get through the month.
