Some families celebrate Thanksgiving with a big turkey dinner and some awkward dinner conversation, hurriedly shoving on their coats before their stomachs have even settled so that they can escape their relatives. And then some families drive 14 hours in a car with three college-aged kids and an 88-year-old woman watching Christmas movies in the backseat as they travel to see their favorite people in the entire universe: their family, of course!
I'm so blessed to belong to the second type of family, and this Thanksgiving, not only did we drive 14 hours from NY to Ohio and back again but we also performed one of the newest trends together with our whole squad of a family. That's right, we did the mannequin challenge. I don't really know how to explain it, but I think we put way too much effort into thinking up poses, each of us pretty much doing what best suited our personality (that said, anyone who knows me will be less than surprised to see me spooning down a jug of ice cream).
Let's just say... when your aunt starts posing for the mannequin challenge the minute you walk in the door, it's only a matter of time before your family joins in on the fun.
