I'm The Girl Who Did Absolutely NOTHING Over Spring Break And Loved Every Second Of Nothingness
My spring break was the break I needed.
I spent my spring break doing what I never, EVER, get to do...nothing.
I didn't go on a cruise, leave the country, or even visit home, I spent my spring break sleeping in and enjoying a quick break from my normal busy days.
The original reason I planned to stay at school for spring break was that my best friend would be flying in to visit me during her spring break, a week after mine, so I would dedicate my break to prepping for her arrival. I worked ahead on assignments so I would have minimal work when she arrived, cleaned my apartment and planned how I would balance spending time with her, attending class and overall navigating the busy remainder of the semester I had ahead of me.
Taking a week to relax and get organized on my own time turned out to be one of the best things I could do for myself and my mental health. I didn't realize how stressed I was until I was able to step back from all that I have going on on a daily basis.
For the first time in a long time, I wasn't on a strict schedule. I could lay out by the pool until whenever I felt like it, drive to the beach to watch the sunset and watch a movie in my living room without falling asleep because I was so exhausted.
The first couple of days of the break were weird.
I couldn't shake the feeling that there was something I was supposed to be doing, or that I was forgetting something.
I struggled to wrap my mind around the fact that I didn't have any real plans and that I could do whatever I wanted for a few days.
Now that spring break is over I can clearly see that doing absolutely nothing over spring break gave me the break I needed and I'm ready to finish the semester strong because of it.
