Yes, it's the Nutmeg State. No, we don't produce nutmeg.
Even though I've lived in North Carolina for a little over a year now, I still call the state of Connecticut home, since that's where I've spent most of my life. A lot of people overlook Connecticut since it's tiny on the map and it seems like nothing major ever really happens there. I've decided to take this opportunity to share just a few of the things that make me so proud to call Connecticut home.
1. UCONN!
GiphyAlthough I attend NC State now (GO PACK!), I will always have a soft spot in my heart for the University of Connecticut Huskies. Plus it also has UConn Dairy Bar, which everyone knows has the best ice cream.
2. Fall Colors
GiphyFall in Connecticut is known to be one of the most beautiful times of the year. Everywhere you look, you'll be able to foliage in gorgeous shades of red, yellow, and orange. A lot of people from other states like to drive through Connecticut just to see the amazing fall colors.

5. Tons of waterfalls and great hiking trails.
GiphyA lot of my summers in Connecticut were spent hiking the many trails we have. There are so many different trails all over the state to choose from, varying in difficulty and scenery. A lot of the trails are near amazing waterfalls too, which makes the hiking absolutely worth it.
6. Winter in Connecticut is beautiful.
GiphyI used to complain about how cold it got In Connecticut every year during the winter, but it was only after I moved to North Carolina and spending my December in fifty degree weather that I realized how much I miss Connecticut winters. My backyard would truly look like a winter wonderland when it would snow.
7. We're in between Boston and New York City.
GiphyLiving in Connecticut made it really easy to travel to two of the biggest cities in the country: Boston and New York City. Both cities were never more than about two hours away, and public transportation also made traveling to them very easy. A lot of my weekends were spent in either Boston or New York City with my friends and family.
