How to manage the technology they use.
GiphyFrom the dreaded copier machine to the email services to the coffee machine, there is a definite learning curve of the technology each company to function. It is your job to learn by trial and error to figure out this technology. If you haven't figured it out yet, let's hope you get it by the end of your internship.
You feel like a million bucks when you get your pay check (if you get paid.)
GiphyIf you are fortunate to get a paid internship, when you get your first paycheck you feel like you are rolling in the dough. You want to buy all the things and you understand the true happiness money can give you.
But with great power comes great responsibility.
GiphyAfter you spend your paycheck on things you don't really need, you find out the hard way that you actually have to be responsible with your money. You know paying bills and saving money for the future is kind of a big deal. Going out to eat is a treat now, not a necessity.
Who to go to for work gossip.
GiphyYou may only be a few weeks into your internship, but you can always find out the tea of what is really going on the office. Whether is it by the water cooler or people talk around the cubicles. Office gossip is some of the best gossip.
You have an early bedtime now.
GiphyBack in the good old days (a month ago) you could stay up all night and be okay. After working full time, you realize that staying up till 10 o'clock is an actual challenge. Good luck trying to watch a movie without dozing off.
Honestly, being an intern is weird.
GiphyYou are considered an adult with responsibilities but still not confused about tasks you are given. You also don't know a lot of people in the office, but it seems like everyone knows you because of you being the new kid on the block.
Vacation days are limited.
GiphyAs you drive past your local community pools or water parks, you often think about the time when you had so much more free time. Being an intern, you have limited or if any vacation days because you are only working there for a short amount of time. Hopefully, you work for a boss who is flexible and understanding about how hectic summer can be.
You experience so much networking.
GiphyOne of the best things about internships is that it opens doors to meet people from all of ages and stages in their careers. They can help you grow as a professional and just a person in general. Finding connections and mentors early on in your career can help you succeed long-term. They always say, "it's who you know, not what you know."
You eat practically all the time.
GiphyFrom retirement parties to going to lunch meetings, there is usually food always around somewhere somehow. At first, you dive in face first enjoying all the food until your pants get a little tighter than they did at the beginning of the summer. We always talk about the Freshman 15, but let's talk about the Intern 10.
That satisfaction of completing your to-do lists.
GiphyBeing an intern means you get several projects throughout the summer to help your company succeed. One of the best feelings is finishing one of your tasks and projects. Honestly, it is one of the most satisfying feelings ever.
Through all the stress and learning curves, having an internship can bring, those 12-weeks can be the best weeks of our lives personally and professionally. They help us realize what we do and don't want to do as careers while we test the waters of different companies. Here is to the rest of our internships, that we can fight the Intern 10 and leave the company better off than when we started.
1. Invite Everyone To A Facebook Page
GiphyI always love making a Facebook page to invite everyone on that has the time and address, so people can find it in a central location. Plus, you can add some funny pics to get everyone hyped for the event.
2. Make A Killer Playlist

This is essential. You want a good blend of the newest hits and those sing-along throwbacks that everyone loves to belt out (think "I'm In Love With A Stripper" vibes). The next important thing after you have your amazing playlist is to have a speaker that has a pretty loud volume. Pro tip: we just got a speaker with a microphone attached to it and its seriously life changing.
3. Create A Fun Punch
GiphyEver since my sign night, this punch (we call it our magic potion) has been a staple at every pregame we host.
Here's how to make it:
Two 2 liter bottles of Sprite
4 pink lemonade 4 lokos (or whatever flavor you like)
Vodka to taste
It's super magical because it tastes fruity and yummy and hides the taste of alcohol. Be careful though, this can make you really drunk quickly if you don't pace yourself.
4. Get Some Snacks To Munch On
Plus, you can have some popcorn to grab if any drama goes down.
GiphyNo one really thinks to have snacks at a pregame, but if you have a little something on the counter to pick on, people will always gravitate towards it. My favorite combo is popcorn and M&Ms. We love a salty and sweet moment.
5. Clean Everything

GiphyIt seems self-explanatory, but I'm super OCD, so I always wipe down all the countertops, sweep and clean the bathroom that everyone will be using. Also, make sure to take out all your trash so you have a fresh trashcan people can use.
6. Hide The Nice Stuff
This is why you hide the breakables.
GiphySimple. Just put everything someone could break or get dirty in another room. Thankfully, we don't really have anything super nice in our apartment, so this step doesn't take too long.
7. Make A Photo Backdrop
Exhibit A.
GiphyEveryone loves when there is a specified wall for people to take photos. Add a cheap colored tablecloth to the barest wall in your apartment and you have a DIY backdrop. Extra points if you get a banner and some balloons. If you have a friend that has a nice camera, tell them to bring it. People die over a good Nikon. If not, a Lumee case is great for extra lighting purposes, plus, you will feel like a Kardashian.
Add these to any party you host and you are guaranteed a good time!

1. Have you ever seen snow?
This seems to be the most popular question. I guess a lot of people don't realize that it actually snows in California and yes enough to go skiing and snowboarding. Thanks to resorts like Big Bear and Mammoth it's possible for me to build a snowman and a sand castle in the same day.
2. Do you surf?
I guess this one is more understandable because there is a large surf culture in California. Most high schools have surf teams, including mine, but football still reigns. Maybe one day I'll get around to changing this, but as of now I've never touched a surfboard in my life and I'm not the only one.
3. What celebrities have you met?
Just because I live in California doesn't mean I bump into celebrities left and right. Although, sometimes you're in the right place at the right time. My most notable sitings have been of Reese Witherspoon and Kylie Jenner. Then there was the time I walked out my front door and had a conversation with NSYNC star Joey Fatone because he was filming in my neighborhood. But like I was saying, these are rare occasions.
4. Why did you come HERE?
People tend to place an emphasis on "here" like Michigan has nothing to offer. California may seem like paradise but a lot of us dream of attending schools like Michigan State for many different reasons.
For me, it was the perfect place to create a home away from home and there's never a minute I regret my decision.
5. How far are you from LA?
No one ever asks me, "How far are you from Big Sur or Newport Beach?" Is Los Angeles really the most romanticized city in California? Besides, California is around 840 miles top to bottom so LA is pretty FAR for a lot of folks. I visit LA quite often but San Francisco is another story. That 7 1/2 hour car ride is pretty brutal so I've only made it up there once.
6. Of course, because I'm from Orange County I always get asked about the housewives.
Everybody wants to know about the infamous Orange County housewives. Ironically, the same Tamra Judge that threw a drink in Jeana Keough's face in season 6 was also once my Girl Scout troop leader.
7. Are you a liberal?
FACT: Not everyone that lives in California is a liberal. Historically, Southern California has swayed more conservative compared to areas in Northern California like San Francisco. Regardless, I believe both are restricting labels. Nowadays, you can't explain all of your political views with one word. Every individual takes a different place on the scale depending on the topic at hand. For me, this is the question I hate the MOST because it's not one I can or want to answer with a simple "Yes" or "No".
8. Is In N Out actually as good as they say?
This one is a little more complicated. In N Out is not the BEST burger and fries that I've ever had in my life, but it's a California staple. Our obsession for and loyalty to In N Out grows because we've grown up around it.
Starving after you spent 10 hours traveling? In N Out. Not sure what you're in the mood to eat? In N Out. Just got off an 8-hour shift? In N Out. Really late at night? In N Out.
What do I want after writing this article? In N Out. (My order: A number 2, everything on it, pink lemonade and 4 extra packets of spread.)
7. Real Housewives of Potomac
GiphyI personally don't watch this one too often so I can't give too much insight. These are some posh, and eccentric, ladies. But I must say, every time I have watched it I've been entertained.
6. Real Housewives of Dallas
GiphyWhat makes reality tv drama better? Reality TV drama with some Texas accents. The housewives of Dallas are some tough women and they show it. It's one of the newer franchises but it is not to be taken lightly.
5. Real Housewives of Atlanta
GiphyThe ladies from Atlanta are intense, to say the least. There's always hard-core drama going on and never a dull moment. It is "gone with the wind fabulous." Get ready to laugh and be shocked with all the drama of these housewives.
4. Real Housewives of Orange County
GiphyThe OG's from the OC. The show that started it all. "The Real Housewives of Orange County" is definitely something else. There are always funny moments with these ladies and lots and lots of screaming. Sometimes these ladies are a lot but it's still impossible to not watch and enjoy. And "that's my opinion!!!!!!!!!!!"
3. Real Housewives of New York
GiphyThe New York franchise has had quite a few switch-a-roos. And sometimes it has missed the mark, but it finally is back on track and better than ever. These ladies are passionate and they aren't afraid to show it. You'll have a lot of laughs but also have tons of drama. Plus it gave us the classic "Money Can't Buy You Class." Don't be all "uncool" and not watch this one. *You'll get the reference when you watch if you don't already.
2. Real Housewives of New Jersey
GiphyNow I may be a bit biased as I was born in New Jersey, but if you've ever seen an episode of "The Real Housewives of New Jersey" then you know how wild this one is. These ladies do not hold back any punches, or tables. The drama is real and runs deep. Bring the popcorn for this one.
1. Real Housewives of Beverly Hills
GiphyThe glitz and glam of Beverly Hills bring this franchise to the number one spot in my opinion. These ladies are crazy rich. It's hard to even wrap your head around how much money they have sometimes. Even just to see how extravagant these ladies live is entertaining enough. But as to be expected there's always a lot of drama, which is why we really love the housewives in the first place. Plus Beverly Hills is home to the queen Lisa Vanderpump.
