Love and Hip Hop Season 7, Cardi B
Cardi B was an internet sensation. She was known for her funny and loud personality that everyone saw on Instagram. Cardi B was originally a stripper in the game who started making money for herself. When her fan base exploded, she got herself a deal on Love and Hip Hop. Everyone thought this was going to be quick and painless two seasons for this rising star, but she had other plans. In between seasons, she made her hit Bodak Yellow and her career began to SOAR! Soon after she ended her Love and Hip Hop career, she started to spend a lot of time with one of the Migos, Offset. Fast forward and they have a beautiful baby girl named Kulture and they are a married couple. Of course, they have had their fair share of issues together during their relationship. Apparently, he has cheated on her multiple times and has even offered a threesome with her and another female. Cardi B, eventually, said that enough is enough and she called it quits with her husband.
She stated that they haven't been happy for a while now and that it is just better if they call it quits. She still loves him and they are still friends but she doesn't want anything to do with him romantically. Easy enough, correct? Whether or not she left him because of his numerous affairs or because they just grow apart is not something that is our business. All we know is that she called it quits and her space should be respected. Let her go and party out her broken heart.
In the comments of Instagram and all over social media, Offset has been seen commenting, "Y'all won" as if it's social media/social networking fault that their relationships failed (excuse me while I play the worlds smallest violin). Then he takes to Twitter shortly after and says, "I miss Cardi!" As if he's pleading his love to her over social media (wow, I didn't know I was still playing this violin). As time goes on, Cardi is showing off her booked and busy lifestyle. Showing the world that their break up is not stopping her money moves. During one of her shows she changes one of the lyrics in her verse of "Motorsport" simply by saying, "I turn Offset on. I told him the other day, yeah we gonna get a divorce." This statement, in front of many fans, proves that she is sticking to what she said and she's sticking to her word on remaining single and not wanting to come back into his life in any romantic way. Does Offset care about this? No. He had other plans.
Recently, he appeared during one of her shows, as a surprise of course, with some stage crew helping him out and changing some things that said, "Take Me Back, Cardi". He appeared with roses and approached her saying, "I Love You, Bruh..." She exchanged some silent words to him but she was overall, UPSET with this stunt of his. He was escorted off the stage, more so he walked off the stage willingly, and Cardi continued with her performance but it was obvious that she was just not having it anymore. Her vibe was different and it was obvious that him showing up just vexed her soul. NOW! Let's talk about why this is terribly wrong and why this is posterboard TOXIC!
First off, this wasn't just any showcase. This wasn't just any other concert. This was HER MOMENT! This was Rolling Louds FIRST female headliner and it was tarnished by Offsets selfish deeds. That's first. Secondly, I would fire her entire crew that let this happen. I don't care if it was for ratings. I don't care if it was going to be the most talked about event before 2018 ends. I don't care if this was going to win some type of award for "Most Sprung". I would have fired her entire set. This was her performance. She is at WORK. And here comes her oh-no-I-messed-up baby's father coming into her place of work and embarrassing her. Trying to get HER crowd to cheer "Take Me Back, Cardi". That's a big no from me, Captain. Cardi B deserves all of the time and space in the world she needs. They are going through a divorce. Whether he was in the wrong or she was in the wrong, they both deserve space. The fact that he is invading her space and going to HER PLACE OF WORK does not sit well with me. Women get bashed and labeled as "The Crazy Baby Mama" when they show up to their baby fathers place of work and show out the way he did. I'm sorry. I'm just not here for it.
Secondly, there is a lot of toxic masculinity in what he's doing. He misses her. We all understand. Once you mess up, you realize what you had and you want her back in your life. Sorry! That's not how this works! Not for adults! You can't just surprise her while she's in class with flowers and your homeboys behind you hyping you up! That isn't going to work. This was a marriage you decided to tarnish with your adultery. It's not like you went to a party without her and she's upset. No. No. You went out of your way to cheat on her with a woman and then cheat on her with another woman and claim "you wanted a threesome". Here's what cheating does to a person: You make them feel insignificant. You make them feel less than. You make them feel as though they are not enough. You got to know her, married her, put a baby in her, said your vows and then what? Cheated on her. Took time out of your day to be secretive and cheat on her. Changed her whole lifestyle, just to basically tell her, "I'll give what I give you to another woman." You are treating her as an equal to someone who does not share what you two share. Then you start with the "I miss her so much" after you were caught. Guess who's tired of it? We are.
Finally, his excuse was, "I didn't even have sex with her. All I did was entertain her." At this point, I'm ready to flip tables. I'm going to say this one time for the people in the back, IT DOES NOT MATTER WHETHER OR NOT YOU HAVE SEX WITH SOMEONE. YOU CAN CHEAT ON YOUR SPOUSE WITHOUT HAVING INTERCOURSE! I know this may be new for anyone under 21, but there is such thing as having an emotional relationship with someone else. If you do anything that you do with your wife with another woman, guess what? It could be considered cheating. Anything that makes your wife feel special should not be spent on another woman. If forehead kisses are meant for your wife, you save those for your wife. If your wife is the only woman you are supposed to lay in bed with and hung up on, you keep it that way. How you cheated does not matter. The fact remains the same, you did something that made her feel less than and she's taking the high and very painful road of getting a divorce. There are men out there who say she should take him back because divorce is hard work. Divorce is getting through the tough times together. THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE CHEATING, FELLAS! This includes going broke together. This includes going through wrongful lawsuits. This includes disputes between families. This includes fights between one another. THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE INFIDELITY!
We can all admit that Cardi B is one of a kind and Offset is terrible for losing her, but whether or not she decides to take him back is on her. All we can do is stand on the sidelines and cheer for her and respect her wishes to be left alone and to NOT harass Kulture's father.
Here is a list of college professors that every student has inevitably taken during their time at school.
This professor never ever talks about what they are supposed to. They assign readings but instead of talking about them they go on random tangents, but it's all okay because it doesn't matter. They either don't have tests so it doesn't matter that you didn't get the information or they're tests are so easy it's okay you never talk about relevant things.
Unlike #1 this professor not staying on track DOES matter because their tests are impossible. This professor talks about current events or their personal life or television shows all class and never gets to the material. You take no notes because they say nothing important so you have nothing to study from for the test. When the test comes you leave the room knowing you failed because you didn't recognize a single thing on the test.
This professor only teaches because they have to. Their real passion lies in research. They'd rather be sitting in their office researching and writing all day than teaching you about their specialty. Yes, this professor may be super smart but they have no idea how to teach and they have no desire to be any good at it.
This is the professor who says, "No one gets an A in my class." It doesn't matter how hard you study for the exam or how long you spend on your paper you won't do well on it. This professor has incredibly high standards and even Jesus wouldn't be able to meet them.
For one reason or another this professor never seems to hold class. You've probably gotten ready for class multiple times to find out it was cancelled. This can either be a really good thing or a really bad thing depending upon the sort of tests this professor gives out.
There are two versions of this professor. One teaches the big lecture class so they don't have the need to learn anyone's name. The other has 20 students in class and still can never seem to manage to learn your name. The second just sort of points at you if you raise your hand. The bright side is that they can't call on you in class if you aren't paying attention cause they don't know your name.
This professor is a joy and privilege. They know what they are talking about and they love talking about it. They are smart and engaging and an actual good professor. This is the professor you recommend to all of your friends and take again and again if you get the chance.
This professor has the lowest standards ever. You could literally turn in a piece of paper with words that vaguely have to do with the topic and get a 100%. You're not sure if this professor just has really low standards or if they just aren't reading anything you turn in. Either way you don't question it.
This professor says they graded your paper or exam weeks ago, but you still haven't seen it. They always "forget" it in their office. You're lucky if you ever see a single graded assignment the entire semester. You grade is kind of just a guessing game the entire semester.
This professor swears. But they don't just swear they swear all the time and they draw attention to the fact that they are swearing. They like to remind you that it is unusual for professors to swear, but they don't care. This professor will also undoubtedly mention that students comment about their swearing on both the evaluations and to the department chair without fail every semester.
This professor always assigns reading. But it's not just one reading it is an entire book plus a 20 page article plus a news article for every single class. It would literally be impossible to do all the reading that this professor wants even if their class was the only class you were taking. This professor doesn't understand that you have a life as well as other classes outside of their class.
Listen to some throwbacks (or to Drake's new album), and you could cry with the music if you really get into the feels and look out the window like you're in a dramatic music video… dance like no one is watching! 'Cause no one is (and if they are, they'll probably want to look away anyway, so don't worry)! Someone tell me if Kiki loves Drake.
Start a new series or read a new book. Being in another world for a while truly takes your mind off for a while. Just relax, unwind. Chill dude.
It'll feel good. I promise. Let the oxytocin in and cortisol out.
Read some cheesy motivational quotes, look in the mirror, and tell yourself that you're a boss a** b*tch. Tricking yourself to feel better really works. Smile, laugh and be spontaneous. Be your own cheerleader!
Indulge in your guilty pleasures, take a bath, go for a drive, or buy something. Seriously, you deserve it.
... and let it consume you. Watch how the colors all blend in together in a sunrise or sunset. Maybe watch the dark night sky and look for stars (maybe you'll see a shooting star!), or look at the moon. Personally, it brings me comfort knowing that if I'm alone at that moment, another pair of eyes somewhere in the world is watching the same thing, or someone else is beginning or ending their day. Use your imagination and imagine what kind of lives other people live, or… just empty your mind. Silent company.
What goes around comes around. If you do something nice for someone else, chances are, you'll feel better, too. One small act of kindness makes a huge impact. You might've made even their day, or at least made them feel better, too.
... or don't... if you're "not the type." It's valid. No matter big or small the situation, it affected you enough to make you some type of way. You're not "weak" if you let out some tears or allow yourself to feel emotions, you're human.
Maybe you're sick of doing the same things over and over again because it became boring, or maybe it reminds you too much of what's causing you to feel down. Take a spontaneous trip downtown, or do something you haven't done in a while. Catch up with some old friends, or just give yourself a break.
Being busy and having some kind of order in your life will probably make you look forward to something. So set some goals and make some plans, it'll take your mind off of things for a while. Keeping yourself busy will give you that opportunity to move forward in your life and potentially move out of that bad feeling in the long run.
Tell them everything, and just let it all out. They'll listen or give their advice, and most of all, being around them will make you feel better. The more you hold it in, the worse it becomes. Everyone's threshold is different: some people may have a tiny mason jar and some may have an aquarium, but at some point, it reaches its capacity and bursts. Empty it out before it hits you out of the blue.
… if you feel like no one would be able to understand or if you're afraid of other people's judgments. Your family will always be straight up with you. Regardless of what you may think, they're the ones who want to be able to understand you the most. The thought of it may be super uncomfortable or it may feel awkward, but chances are, they probably went through something similar.
At the very least, they're there to listen, try to understand, and/or offer you some "surprisingly" amazing advice. After all, you're their mini-me! They love and treasure you so much even if they lead extremely busy lives or if they're not the "affection-showing" type. Your parents or siblings would do anything to fix whatever that hurts their little baby's heart. All you have to do is ask them to listen, and they will. Their warm embrace will always be opened for you.
Learn how to cook! Paint yourself (or be painted)! Learn how to breakdance! Fall on your butt trying to skateboard! Invest your time in doing something new, fully immerse yourself in something you've always wanted to try, or do something you KNOW you're not good at. The worst that could happen is that you end up not liking it or you make a fool out of yourself. If you don't like it, then great, cross it off your list.
It's not a waste of time if you're finding things that you like/dislike. Who cares if you fail at something? At least you're trying and getting yourself out there and just having some fun. Maybe do it with friends so you could have someone to lean on.
It's just you, a paper, and a pen/pencil. No one has to know: be your own outlet and just write your heart out. If you're too lazy, then just type it out. Again, don't hold it in. Work on your handwriting, mimic a different style, write a story, or focus on the clicking of the keys on your keyboard (writing this listicle improved my mood by 100%).
Yeah, sometimes it's OK to hide from the world for a little. Sometimes, that's all you want to do. Sleep it off and maybe you'll feel better in the morning. Let your mind and body rest…
You can't hide forever. As much as you may want to do nothing and isolate yourself all day, nothing good will come out of being alone all the time. Eventually, if you don't do anything, you'll start to overthink or consume yourself with more negativity. Trust me, you'll be stuck in a cycle of miserable.
It's OK... SOMETIMES!!! Give yourself some time and space, be lazy for a little, but not for too long 'cause remember ^ ^ ^ (you can't hide forever).
Go outside and play flag football, some sand volleyball, ultimate frisbee, the "night game," or hit the gym. It's almost like when you were younger and you'd just play with your neighbors and not give a second thought about anything else. You'll release a lot of feel-good hormones, let the energy run you, and then let it run you down so you can take that fat nap later. Be sweaty now, and then smell good later. You'll be more fit.
... out thetoxic people in your life, social media, email, or simply do some chores, and maybe you'll stumble on some old, happy memories and feel all nostalgic (and your parents will thank you for cleaning out that pig den of yours). It's pretty therapeutic!
... from social media or the TV. Go out and LIVE your life and stop watching other people's. Waiting for that text? Don't. Let them wait on you while you go do something amazing for yourself. You know how you tend to just *taptaptaptap* your way through other people's Instagram/Snapchat stories? They do that, too.
At the end of the day, people don't care! A like/comment/view from someone won't solve your problems. Go make some real moments and stories for yourself without worrying about what's behind a screen.
...with some old friends, your neighbors, or just talk to your family that's just down the hall or downstairs (they haven't seen you in ages)!

Really, just take some time to think about it. What can you do better as a person, and what could you do to avoid running into the same situation if you can?
Don't forget to EAT, drink water (don't dehydrate from crying), get in enough sleep, seek out help if you need it, do things that you love, and try to find the things and people that make you happy. This is so important.
Being sad is sometimes uncontrollable, but staying sad is a choice. Smile, laugh, and go live your best life. You are NOT alone. You are surrounded by amazing people and amazing resources. What you're feeling right now is temporary.
A friend once told me, "It will be OK because it always ends up OK. Maybe it's just a matter of time, and you'll just have to wait it through," but trust me, it will be OK. You will feel yourself soon. Keep your head up and don't let other people or things keep knocking you down. You. Are. Amazing. Now go out there and play your part in the world :)
