Why I Need To Make Myself My First Priority
Loving yourself is difficult, but so is losing yourself.
Self-confidence issues, depression, lack of self-worth, comparison to others, trouble finding who I'm meant to be, and so many other reasons is how I lost myself.
An open letter to the girl who needs to put herself first:
You know you're not perfect, but you don't need to be. You can make yourself die laughing when you're alone. You are a healthy weight for your size. You may not have the best health, but you're still thriving.
You can kill any rap song in a matter of three days. You are beautiful, makeup or not. Start boosting your confidence instead of noticing all of your flaws.
Depression is real and it has hit you hard in the past few months. You cry yourself to sleep over things that shouldn't even bother you. You think about why certain things have happened to you. Why you?
You're not vulnerable. Nothing ever seems to go right. When something does go right, there's a voice in your head telling you that you're about to fail. But you aren't. Do not let something that you can't control ruin your mindset. You're hilarious and so fun to be around.
You are worth more than diamonds. Everyone around you can see that so why can't you? You're too busy thinking about how no one wants you here when in all honesty, that statement is the furthest thing away from the truth.
You are loved way more than you think. You are wanted here. Read the first sentence in this paragraph and remind yourself that every morning when you wake up.
I'm going to say this one time and one time only. Stop comparing yourself to other people's lives. Focus on you and how you can become better. You will never look like that girl that you keep seeing on Instagram, and you know what? That is totally okay. You were made to be you. No one else. Make your life your own and stop trying to conform to others.
You are meant to do great things. You are glowing. Your life has taken a complete 180-degree turn for the better. You're happier now. You need to realize that all of the things that you're going through, you're going through them for a reason.
It's a lesson that you will learn from. You won't learn from it now, but in four years, you'll see that everything you've been through was to make you a stronger person. You are the strongest person that anyone has ever met. You need to see that.
Love yourself for who you are. Make yourself your first priority. Don't put a boy or your friends before you. You are stuck with yourself forever, so why not learn to fall in love with who you are?
You can do it. We all believe in you. Passion for yourself will lead you anywhere.
