It's Hard For Me To Celebrate The 4th of July With Trump As President

Fourth of July is more than just wearing red, white, and blue, lighting up the sky with fireworks, and catering the traditional hamburger or hotdogs (with a side of beer) at your neighborhood block party. It is the day the Declaration of Independence was finalized by the Continental Congress, which allowed the States to separate from Great Britain.

For the past three years, it has been hard to celebrate Independence Day knowing Donald Trump is the president. He is against everything this country was founded on and bears uncanny resemblances to what the Declaration of Independence calls into question, the king and his governing body.

This Pride month has been a special case from past years. People seem to be more aware of companies attempting to take advantage of people's Pride, the phenomenon called "rainbow capitalism".

On another hand, it's amazed some how much acceptance can be shown, with streets, malls and more decked out in rainbow.

Apparently, June is National Dairy Month. Did some kind of dairy company come up with that? Who knows. If you ask me, most of these "national XYZ" months and days seem a little made up, especially when there are multiple of the same type within a year. However, I will always welcome an excuse to eat a food that I love — one of which is ice cream.

If this isn't clear already I will say: I am not vegan. At the same time, I appreciate non-dairy food products and recognize that's a preference for some. Luckily we live in Los Angeles, a city full of dairy, meat or whatever-else-alternatives, so even though this is "dairy month," I think "non-dairy month" is a fine way to celebrate June too. Plus, many regular ice cream shops in LA offer a non-dairy option.

Welcome to the month of June, one of the biggest and colorful months of the year! This month is aimed to celebrate the diversity and inclusiveness of everyone within the LGBTQ+ community and celebrate the strides that have been made to bring the community to what it is today. If you are not sure entirely who that includes, this would be anyone who identifies as trans, gay, lesbian, asexual, and so on and so forth. The community takes pride in including every one of all shape, form, color, and condition. But some of you may be asking, "why does this community get their own special month to celebrate?"
