When I found out Maroon 5 was going to be the headline for the Super Bowl halftime show, I had a lot of thoughts running through my mind. I wasn't very excited, to say the least; don't get me wrong, I do like Maroon 5. Maroon 5 was a band I remember loving as a small child. I was about 2 years old when Songs About Jane came out and I remember jamming to it nonstop when I was around 5 years old. In my opinion Songs About Jane and It Won't Be Soon Before Long was Maroon 5's best albums and their music wasn't as appealing to me after that; their newest music became overplayed radio hits that I didn't enjoy. I wasn't against the idea of them being the halftime performers, but I thought it would have been better back in 2007 when I loved their music the most.

Shortly after Maroon 5 was announced to perform the Pepsi Halftime Show, a teaser trailer was released hinting to a Spongebob cameo after the creator of SpongeBob, Stephen Hillenburg passed away at age 57. After the trailer was released social media was so excited and wanted to see a recreation of "Sweet Victory" from Spongebob and many said it would be the most epic halftime show.

This year's game was possibly the most boring Super Bowl to watch with a final score of 13-3 Patriots. I don't really keep up with what is going with NFL football but I happened to be watching it at a bar and all I kept hearing was "this is so boring" or "this game sucks." The game took place at the Mercedes Benz stadium in Atlanta. It was a pretty predictable game with the Patriots winning, but at least the halftime show had a few noteworthy moments that got people pretty excited…and upset.

It is well-known they weren't the first artist asked, due to a list of singers and bands declining in union with Colin Kaepernick. But this article isn't about the fact the band performed, regardless of many of their industry competition's decisions; it's about the response the band got to the actual performance, not just the notion that they would play even though all their "friends" said no.

As everyone knows, the NFL has not been super welcoming to its minority viewers. Many celebrities who supported Kaepernick and his fight for justice turned down the super bowl's halftime show and one that didn't just happened to be one of the hottest artists in hip hop at the moment. Travis Scott faced a lot of turmoil from other celebrity peers about performing for the halftime show but he is young and poppin' so I'm sure he didn't care too much. Many fans hearing about Travis Scott were probably pumped just like me. Expecting a huge show of some of his best songs. Travis Scott has a huge list of popular songs that people would expect to be performed at the half time show. Instead, he gets one minute of stage time.
