No one likes midterm exams or papers or group projects. Florida Gulf Coast has plenty of resources and opportunities to help you study and be a successful student.

1. The Library

The library is open 24 hours Monday at 7 a.m. to Friday at 8 p.m. If you're desperate and have to pull an all-nighter, it's a great place to keep your focus, and even take a power nap if needed. Plus, it's only a jump skip and a hop away from Starbucks!

2. Be Prepared

Make sure you have all the materials needed: textbooks, pens, electronics, chargers, snacks, and water. I always forget something and have to drive all the way back to my apartment. By being prepared, you're putting yourself in a productive mindset, which you'll need if you're crash coursing an entire subject.

3. Study Rooms with Friends

I think on of my favorite things about the Florida Gulf Coast library is the study rooms. There's nothing better than writing a couple papers and crunching math problems with some friends where you can talk and help each other out without feeling as if you're being too loud and disturbing the whole floor.

4. Coffee

Coffee is the only reason I've made it through midterms and finals. The Dunkin' Donuts, Starbucks, and Einstein Bros Bagels will become your best friend.

5. Study Someplace Where You Don't Typically Study

FGCU is filled with places to study. I find that when I study someplace new, I can concentrate better! Here are a few spots you can check out!

6. Take Advantage of Campus Resources

At Florida Gulf Coast, we want you to succeed. Take advantage of the writing center, SI sessions or other tutoring sessions, and communication lab. Also, the Center for Academic Achievement (CAA) offers tons of tutoring sessions and workshops to help you ace your midterms! Some of their workshops even include how to cram for an exam.

7. Remember to Take a Break

Do something fun to take some of the stress off of school. Head down to campus rec and go kayaking or paddleboarding. Hit the gym or take a group fitness class. Take a walk around campus or explore the nature trails with some friends. Just remember to eat and drink plenty of water throughout your study session!

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
