Dear Person Struggling with Loneliness,
I want to start off by saying that I've been there. I was there over the course of the past year. After getting out of a very toxic relationship, I thought I was too broken to be with anyone following that. I thought no one would ever accept me because of how flawed I was following that relationship.
Loneliness happens in various ways. It can happen when that one kid in a high school cafeteria is by himself because he consistently gets bullied by his fellow classmates. You can feel lonely when you are in your dorm late at night by yourself. You can even be lonely when someone close to you passes away.
It is important to know that, even in our times of loneliness, God is always present. He sees us in that loneliness, and is there to comfort us. There are several verses that show us this great fact in the Bible. I will focus on two in this article.
The first verse is found in Deuteronomy 31:6, which says, "Be strong and courageous; don't be terrified or afraid of them. For the Lord your God is the one who will go with you; He will not leave you or abandon you (CSB)." You have probably heard this verse before, probably in a song sung at Vacation Bible School when we were younger. This verse is saying that, even in your loneliness, God is present. He knows what you are facing. Just talk to Him. Pray about it.
The second verse I want to focus on is Romans 8:31, which says, "What then are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us? (CSB)" This verse, written by the apostle Paul, shows us that, even when we are being bullied, or however our loneliness creeps in, God is for us. Turn your eyes to Him!
I like the quote that says something along the lines of, "God looked at the world, and He thought it needed on of you!" Think about that in your times of loneliness. Even when we are lonely, and it seems like the world is against us, we have the God who created us on our side!
God bless!
