Having a younger sister is truly a blessing and sometimes a curse. A sister is somebody who steals your clothes, who goes into your room when you're not home, and steals anything you remotely care about. Each time she'll deny all of it even if you have proof of her wearing it in an Instagram post. A sister is somebody who you can fight with and 5 minutes later you'll go jump on her bed and start talking and laughing like nothing ever happened. A sister is somebody you can always count on to make you laugh when you're sad, always down for eating food, and always available to lay in bed with just to have company.
Growing up together was the furthest thing from easy. From sharing a bedroom to having to decide who had to sit in the middle on the backseat. Fighting. Fighting all of the time over the stupidest of things. She's brutally honest with you when nobody else is. She's not afraid to tell you if that dress doesn't look good on you or if you're making a stupid decision, she just wants to help you.
She's somebody who helped mold who you are today. Through the ups and the downs, the happiest of phone calls to the crying phone calls, she's been there through everything. She matures you. Even though you aren't her mom, you have this instinct to protect her and to guide her. Even the thought of her growing up and going to college scares you. She was your little sister who you used to play school with and now she's going to go off to school. She's your baby sister.
She makes you realize what it's like to be sentimental. You catch yourself saving everything she's made you or wrote to you in a box. In that box you have all kinds of pictures of her from when she was a baby to even those tacky yearly school pictures. You make her take first day of school pictures and cry wondering how time moved so fast and allowed her to grow up because that's not okay.
At the end of the day, she's somebody you can always count on until the day you die. Some friendships come and go, but your sister is such crucial part of your life that you never want to let go. Even when you grow up and things change and people move, your sister will always be there to count on no matter what. She's your best friend.
