Sometimes I just can't. I can't deal. I can't not be awkward. I misstep social cues and I feel super weird. Most people think I am funny, but really I'm just awkward. You will understand these 5 things if you're awkward too.
1. You can't handle the parking lot stalking.
Get. Away. From. Me.
If the parking at your school is bad, you've definitely had someone creep slowly behind you in their car as you walk to your own car? They want your spot. You know they want your spot, and you don't care if they take your spot after you leave, but being followed makes you want to scream and hide. This happens every day at my school. I will literally weave between cars while I'm walking to avoid being followed this way. Stop following me. Its awkward and I hate it.
2. You can't eat crinkly food in class.
When you have back to back classes over lunch time and you're starving, but you'd rather be hungry than noisy.
3. You compliment people and it comes off as creepy.
You love to compliment people but sometimes it's too much.
"Wow, I love your sweater!" ...
"And your hair."
..."Also, neat patch on your bag."
"And the holes in your jeans are cool."
"Kay, I'm going somewhere now."...
"Bye!"
4. You chronically over-share.
You like to talk about yourself and connect with other people, but you struggle with where to draw the line.
Today, I said, "I can never spell diarrhea."
Like talking about diarrhea, that's probably a good place to stop.
5. Full hallways are your nemesis.
You can't walk in a straight line. You make confusing eye contact. You dance with everyone you walk past in the hallway. It's just awkward.
Its not our fault that we're awkward. Most of the time its fine! It can be funny. Its best to learn to laugh at yourself. When all else fails, OWN IT. That's right! I said diarrhea!
