Donald Trump Is Making A Mockery Of Democracy

But we can stop him.

Donald Trump Is Making A Mockery Of Democracy

Donald Trump is a bad person—he would make a worse president—this much is clear.

The good news is that he has no chance of becoming president. The bad news is that despite this, we are allowing him to make a mockery of the democratic process. And we need to stop him.

Donald Trump has already succeeded in turning the Republican primary into a three-ring circus solely by spouting batshit things into microphones. As esteemed political website "FiveThirtyEight" writes, he gets more attention than every other Republican candidate combined, even though he isn't going to win the Republican primary.

He has alienated so many swing voters away from the Republican party that he has given the Democrats a huge advantage in the general election, which is either good or bad news depending on your politics.

But Donald Trump isn't going to stop there. He is now threatening to break from the Republicans and run as a third-party candidate. That means he would be campaigning for 16 more months and almost guaranteed to be involved in the general election. Imagine what the world would think of a presidential debate between Hillary Clinton, Jeb Bush, and Donald Trump.

The democratic process where we elect the leader of the free world cannot be turned into a laughingstock because a human baseball glove wants to jerk himself off. America cannot stand on a soapbox and spread democracy to other parts of the world when one of our final candidates is a delusional bigot. No matter where you fall on the political spectrum, from Socialist to Tea Party and everything in between, everyone can agree he's got to go.

There's only one way to do this: stop paying attention to him. Donald Trump is the ultimate example of "any publicity is good publicity." We need to stop giving him publicity. Without his oxygen supply, he'll suffocate.

We, as a country, need to change the channel when he's being discussed on television, and need to stop clicking on the "Donald Trump said this" headlines on the internet. Even pieces like this one are adding a tiny bit of fuel to his fire.

As disjointed as our current political system is, Trump is proof it can actually get worse. We need to return to (slightly) reasonable political discourse, because picking the president is really fucking important. We need to treat it with the respect it deserves, and it starts with ignoring the racist old guy when he's begging for your attention.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
