When you're younger, you probably wished summer could last forever. By the time you're a college student though, I'm sure you're counting down the days until summer ends and you can return to your college town. Being home with your family is always great, but if you're like me, by August you've definitely done these ten things because you can't contain your excitement for the semester to come!

1. Gone dorm or apartment shopping

I always seem to start shopping way, way too early. I get so excited thinking about the new space to come that I just can't wait until August to start shopping.

2. You have a packing list

Giphy

My packing list seems to grow every day. I'm constantly thinking of more things I need for my upcoming school year.

3. You have a Pinterest board dedicated to dorm decor

A whole section of your Pinterest is dedicated to organization, decor ideas, and things to buy for your apartment or dorm.

4. You've made a group chat with your roommates

Giphy

If you're living with your best friends like I am, moving in can be that much more exciting!

5. You've perfected your schedule

Giphy

Every year I try hundreds of combinations of classes to get the perfect schedule: no really late night classes, no really early morning classes, no Friday classes. It seems impossible, but it just takes some playing around and constant obsessing over to figure it out.

6. You've spent way too much time watching move in/college vlogs on youtube

Giphy

Yes, I like watching other people vlog about moving into their apartments for hours on end. I know it's silly, but it makes me more excited and gives me some great ideas for when I move into mine!

7. You've looked into clubs you can join on campus

Giphy

Whether your someone who has never been in a college club before or you're in five, you're probably always tempted by the hundreds of options at your university.

8. You've already started planning for the upcoming semester

Giphy

I think I purchased my planner in June, and I have already filled it out for the upcoming year. It's always great to get ahead and organized!

9. You bring up your school every chance you get

Giphy

Yes, constantly being asked what school you go to and about your major can get irritating at times. But most of the time, you'd love any excuse to brag about your school to strangers.

10. You're counting down the days until your move in date

Giphy

33 days until move in... 32 days until move in... 31 days until move in...

Three years ago, I chose to attend college in Philadelphia, approximately 360 miles away from my small town in New Hampshire. I have learned many valuable lessons away from home, and have thoroughly enjoyed my time spent in Pennsylvania. One thing that my experience has taught me, however, is that it is absolutely impossible to beat a New England summer.

Yes, the math major is doing a math-related post. What are the odds? I'll have to calculate it later. Many people have probably learned about the Fibonacci sequence in their high school math classes. However, I thought I would just refresh everyone's memories and show how math can be beautiful and apply to physical things everywhere around us with stunning examples.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
