Dear 2017,

You may have heard that 2016 kind of rocked the world. It brought a crazy election, it took many lives, and was simply a hot mess. Now, we are all looking to you to be the year when positive things happen. What do we need from you 2017? That's a great question and I have a few ideas.

First of, please bring everyone love, because we could all use a little love in our life. Whether it be you bring someone the love of their life or you bring everyone more love in general, that would be fantastic. Love is love and one of the greatest things a person can do in life is learn to love and to be loved in return. So I ask you for love.

Next, I ask you for hope. 2016 brought out an ugly side to people. The human race faced very scary and intense situations that cost many people their lives, homes, and more. Give us all the hope so that we are not afraid to live our life to the fullest. The hope that catastrophe will not happen if you step outside of your house. Hope that there is something good coming that could change the world. Every great thing in life starts with a spark of hope, so please be the spark in all of us.

If you are feeling super giving, please bring everyone opportunity. The chance to chase a dream, conquer a fear, or reach a goal. Maybe the opportunity can be a change or even try something that they have never been able to do before. A little opportunity can boost the morale of anyone who had their butts kicked in 2016.

Also, if you feel like it, can you bring us all peace? Peace from the terrible events that happened in 2016. Some of the events have people still rattled to their core and it would be nice if we could all have a feeling of peace. Bring peace to anyone who may have made mistakes, but are striving to move forward and overcome those decisions. Bring peace to those who need a bit of help getting on a straight and narrow path.

Lastly, I ask that you bring us all unity. Let us all see that we are stronger together rather than broken. Let us feel what it is like to look at the people to the left a right of us and know we can count on them and they can count on us in return. Our world needs it. The human race needs it.

All in all 2017, I believe in you and I am sure many others do as well. So please, be kind to us and make 2017 an overall kick ass year.
