6 Things You Know To Be True If You're Obsessed With Your Dog

Anyone who knows anything about me can say without a doubt that I am completely obsessed with my family dog. Seriously though, what is there not to love about dogs anyway? They're always excited to see you no matter how long you've been away. They sit and listen if you want to complain about your problems. Most importantly, they're always down for some good cuddling. Having a dog is probably the greatest thing ever, but if your dog is truly your best friend, you know these things to always be true.

1. You have more pictures of your dog on your phone than anything else

Your dog is taking a nap? Picture. They just rolled over and look like they're kinda smiling? Picture. Playing with their toy? Picture. Sleeping again? Picture. Picture. Picture.

2. You then show every living person the results of said photoshoot

You think your friends are going to look at the 30 photos of your sleepy pup with Spongebob's excitement, but that's usually not the case.

3. You'd rather sit at home with your dog than go out on the weekends

They never argue about which show you should watch, and they don't care if you haven't washed your hair for three days because you've been binge watching.

4. You've seriously wished you could trade places with your dog for at least a day

They get to sleep all day, never have to get dressed, receive endless scratches, and can eat as much as they want? Sounds like the life for me.

5. Whenever you pet another dog you feel like your cheating on your own dog

You worry when you get home your dog will smell the other dog on your hands and never trust you to leave the house again.

6. You'll use any excuse to squeeze your dog into the conversation

"Oh, you went to Hawaii for spring break? My dog has this little Hawaiian shirt we put him in and it is just the cutest thing in the world."

It really doesn't matter if your dog is thousands of miles away at your parent's house or if you rescued them your senior year and see them every day. Either way, having your dog as your best friend is the best. Human friends are cool too, but honestly, we all know our dogs are the true best friends for life. They don't call them man's best friend for nothing.

Summer Slump

Summer is a time for fun in the sun, hanging out with friends, and living it up, but for some people, that's not the case. Summer is a nightmare for idle minds. Let me explain what I mean by that. For people with mental illness having the extra time to think and relax can be devastating for their mental health. Now, this isn't a problem for everyone but for some people who suffer from mental illness, this is a reality.

The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) reported that about 35.7% of 12th graders in the U.S. had used marijuana in the past year, and 11.8% reported daily use. As for coming to school under the influence, specific statistics can be hard to come by, but there is concern that the increasing social acceptance of marijuana may lead to higher rates of use among teenagers.
