God Is The Institution, Not The Church

A note on my relationship with God.

God Is The Institution, Not The Church

My relationship with God is more than just "The Church". My relationship is about who I am as a Christian and being around other Christians who love God just as much as me. That is what is important in my relationship with God. I realize that I am not perfect, nor will I ever be. So why should I try to be something that I'm not? Why should I be judged for my looks or the mistakes I did or didn't make?

Jesus is the institution, not the church. And as Jesus being the institution, how do I get everyone I know to hear the gospel? The answer to that is easier than you might think. Spreading the love God has for all of us is one of the easiest things you could ever do in your life. Spreading God’s love is being positive. It’s about serving Him in every way possible by following His word.

Having a relationship with God is making sure He knows my heart. To me, that means praying and worshiping. Whether I’m alone in a crowd, or with my friends in the car. I pray for others and myself, and for every reason I could ever thing of. I pray even when I feel broken and like God has abandoned me. But the amazing thing about God and His love is that even in our darkest hour, when we feel that He had abandoned us, He still has a perfectly devised plan for us. He knows our heart.

So I ask myself if I’m trying my hardest to do these things and the answer is no. The answer will always be no because I will always be able to do more. I’ll never perfectly spread God’s love. At the end of the day, I’m a sinner just like you. Just like right now, in my life with this article. Am I sure I’m going about this the right way? No, I’m not sure I am.God leads us on the right path and I feel like God gives us these opportunities for us to learn and to make ourselves better.

We all walk a fine line sometimes when it comes to our faith and Jesus. The thing to remember is that He is flawless, that He loves us, and that no one can ever take your relationship with God.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
