I Am A Millennial Woman, I Am Not A Feminist And I Take Southern Comfort In That

I would rather stay home with my family than march on the streets.

I am not a feminist nor will I ever be.

Blame it on my southern heritage, old-fashioned views, or any other reasoning you could possible think of. I am not a feminist and I don’t plan on becoming one. I want a man to open the car door for me, and walk on the street-side of the sidewalk.

Sure, maybe it was how I was raised, but I do not see a problem with it.

Now don’t get me wrong, I am all about sisterhood and self- empowerment; however, there are somethings I believe men should do. God created man to be the head of the household and who am I to go against the man upstairs.

It seems that my generation has this undying flame and passion to fight for women’s rights and other things they believe in, and that drive and motivation is inspiring, but it is not the lifestyle I see for myself. Go ahead girl, be the sole money maker, raise kids, own your own business do whatever you feel led to do, but stop making me seem like this horrendous woman for not wanting to live that way.

Yes, I am going to college to get an education in order to have a career one day. But the second my kids are old enough, I want to be there for them.

Not stuck in some office missing moments from their childhood that I will never be able to get back. Growing up my mom was always there. If you know Big Michelle you know what I am talking about. I am convinced she was supermom! Homeroom mom, team mom, class reader you name it and she was there. Her presence during my childhood years forever made an impact on my life, and one day I want my kids to have that same experience.

My best and happiest years are still ahead of me. College is fantastic and I would not change a second of it, but I cannot wait to raise a family and marry the love of my life.

This whole topic of feminism is one I often don’t bring up because I know my views differ from most other young women my age and I am okay with that. It is often easier to smile and just shake my head than attempt to explain my reasoning. But if I do bring up my stance on the subject, don’t you dare shame me for preferring this lifestyle. Let me look forward to making dinner for my family and keeping the house clean for my husband after he has had a long day at work.

I respect the feminist movement and all the women participating in it; I truly do!

It is just not for me.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
