Almost everyone has heard of the dating app called Tinder. Essentially, you create a profile of pictures for others to scroll through and have the option to add a bio about yourself or link up your Instagram. Based on who is nearby, they can see your profile and either swipe left or right.
If it's a match, either person can message the other, hopefully sparking a conversation! This is exactly what happened to two young students from Kent State University when their conversation became very popular.
When John Asvec posted a Tinder conversation on Twitter, it went viral. According to ABC News, Asvec had messaged Michelle Arendas in 2014 with the words, "Hey Michelle." She replied about two months later with "Hey, sorry my phone died!" The two went back and forth for almost three years with clever responses such as: "Hey, sorry I was in the shower" and "Presidents' Day had me swamped recently, you know how it gets!!"
Asvec posted the conversation on Twitter with the caption "One day I am going to meet this girl, and it's going to be epic. Look at the dates of our Tinder texts." After the tweet got a lot of attention, Arendas was tagged which prompted the two to finally even learn each other's last names.
After gaining a lot of attention online, the two finally met on Good Morning America just the other day in front of the whole world. They sat behind a wall while on live TV being interviewed by the hosts.
They were asked questions such as "What do you binge watch on Netflix?" and "What is your favorite junk food?" before meeting one another. Finally, the time had come for them to step out from behind the wall to meet each other for the first time.
Tinder had noticed the conversation from all the hype and tweeted to the pair that they will send them to anywhere in the world for their first date. The two picked Maui, Hawaii and planned on heading there after the big meeting on Good Morning America.
They both shared their appreciation on Twitter after their relationship went viral, and Andreas even tweeted to Asvec "I can't believe we're about to hit the big apple before the beach! See you on GMA on Tuesday!!!!" Both seemed excited to meet, and even showed it on their faces when they saw each other in person for the first time.
I know everyone will be waiting patiently to hear how their first date in Maui went, and hope nothing but the best for these two! No one can say that their Tinder conversation went viral, and even scored a free trip from Tinder themselves for a first date!
